I don't get it.
why do so many people think the derringer is a good flavour dripper?
it really isn't.
the marquis and Veritas and of course the magma are leagues ahead of it when it comes to flavour.
A lot of "flavor" rda's have to be built properly for full flavor. I do agree with you tho, i had a tough time parting with my magma, i havent found anything to beat its flavor.

most underrated atties I've ever seen are #1, the kayfun mini. sick little atty but never go the appreciation it deserves because it was over $150 and it kinda resembled a clearomiser so very few got to experience this amazing little beast

most underrated or at least never really talked about much RDA's to me would be the Astron and the Quasar, both from cosmic innovations... also a little pricey but man awesome dual coil 22mm atty with a domed upper cap that really makes the flavor pop, awesome construction and a very tight fitting cap and afc, def an awesome atty these two :)

Im guessing you didnt build it right? My Derringer instantly knocked my Magma out the rotation. Even rebuilt the thing a couple weeks ago and gave it one last shot but nope, probably never going to use my Magma again. Not to mention the Magma's notorious for leaking, and mine will leak just sitting on a stand by itself, even with the coil barely over the airhole and not a single piece of wick touching the deck. Derringer only leaks when I overfill it on accident. Are you a mouth-to-lung hitter? If so than of course the Magma is the way to go, thats all its good for as it doesnt have the airflow for anything else. The Derringer on the other hand doesnt seem to be able to be closed down enough so you have to lung hit the thing, but its worth every bit of it.

Another fan of the VA Cyclone here. I've had to semi-retire mine recently after carelessly stripping the positive threading, but it was my first atty and I've been kicking the crap out of it for nearly three years. A replacement is very much in my future.

I'd also like to give the nod to the Royal Hunter, for which I'm still in the honeymoon period. It's a thoughtful, simple atomizer with the ability to blow huge clouds or close things right down for mouth-to-lung vaping. Good flavour on it, and the base has build options for days. Considering the price for an authentic, not to mention ease of use, I'm surprised there aren't more folks pushing this one.

My next purchase also seems to get little fanfare: The Revolt by Hazematic. Not much to say having not tried it yet, but I'll be placing an order in a few weeks.

science of vaping sod5k rda.

rarely ever mentioned but just a nice well built rda overall, good for flavor and unique deck that makes for easy 1 strand dual coils.

Not to derail the thread. But what do y'all think about the mutation v4? It's so cheap to get the authentic one cuz it's Chinese and not like the 100 dollar Addies. I was between that in the plume veil but now I'm eying the derringer and aerolus. I currently only own a magma clone. I want something thets cooler and runs bigger clouds.

I started this thread, but great question.

I own the mxv4 and personally stopped using it after a week. Leaked so much on me. Granted it definitely could just be user error since I only put like 2-3 builds on there, but i had to put it away for a bit before i launched it across the parking lot at work lol.

I started this thread off talking about the Lycan RDA by Cigreen. Been bouncing back and forth between it and my tugboat v2.

I definitely recommend the Lycan. My only gripe about it is the grub screws are sub par, although they do give you a few replacements. Luckily i had an old plume veil laying around and the post screws fit in the Lycan. Since i put those in there the Lycan has been stellar. Great options for both side afc and bottom afc. My favorite part about the Lycan is the bottom afc has a lip on the deck that prevents leakage, unlike the mxv4.

I'm also thinking about getting a derringer or an aeolous. But before you get one of those, give the Lycan a look.

So is the plume veil any good and my magma leaks. I kinda got over it. Does the mx leak worse?

The plume veil is a good rda. I retired it after all these new wide bore tips started coming out. I'm just not a fan of the restricted draw on a standard 510 drip tip anymore lol.

I can't really say the mxv4 leaks more than the magma because i don't own a magma. I will say though, that of the 2-3 builds i put in the mxv4 it leaked. A LOT. After a day or so of using it i realized i had to be really careful when dripping, but it didn't really seem to help. I think it also had to do with the thin o-rings on it.

As a fairly new vaper I admit that I own too many RDAs. It's becoming like a sickness already. I like trying new stuff all the time. After a day of vaping with newly bought RDAs I still keep going back to my Cyclone by Vicious Ant. It is still my favorite RDA.

A bottom fed Cyclone is the only thing I've been using on my Reo Grand for about the last year. It's an excellent little atty that can deliver fantastic flavor and quite good vapor production.

I read a whole thread about the plume veil leaking tho. And the magma is great for flavor and now I want a decent cloud rda. Can plume veil chuck it decent or no?

I have quite a few but some of the cheaper ones that are worth mentioning are the Explorer by cigreen, picked up for $5 bucks on clearance, Tri-post smallish holes in the post and some what like a tobh, well built and good flavor, and I have had good and bad luck with mephisto V2, first one was nice so I bought another and the positive post spins, same with the onslaught first one was great but the second on the positive post was not drilled right and the screw would not hold the wires. at least I got them in different colors so I can at least make use of the top caps and rings.

If you want the flavor of the Magma with more clouds, the Derringer is right up your alley. You have to lung hit it, but its a nice vape indeed. The Magma's got flavor but it just doesnt have the airflow for clouds. The Derringer tastes better than any build Ive put on my Magma AND I can fog up a room with it at like 18w. Check out the cheapo Samurai Bonsai clones over at Angelcigs too. Functionally its almost identical to a Derringer sizewise and internally, with some slight differences in the airflow holes. That $8 Bonsai clone laid my Derringer to waste in both flavor AND vapor.
