I've been using a Cyclone with AFC as my everyday atty for a little over a week now, and have come to especially appreciate one unexpected benefit.

Unlike the RM2, or the Cyclone without AFC, if I over-squonk and a little juice makes it through the air hole, it doesn't run down the outside of the atty and make a mess. Instead, as long as I didn't REALLY over-squonk a LOT, it's more or less completely contained in the little cutout in the outer AFC housing, and gets sucked back into the chamber as the atty drains back into the bottle.

Win!

That's one of the things that I dislike about the AFC. Juice remnants seem to collect and linger in and around the outer shell's slots. It drives me bonkers.

How does the Cyclone AFC compare to a drilled out RM2 in terms of temperature of the vape, deck size and build friendliness? Loving my RM2, just kinda wish there was more room to play in there.

It's a little more difficult to build as the posts are center and side, instead of side and side. With the lip, the deck size seems a bit smaller too, and is not ceramic. Temperature of vape is about the same, I think... perhaps just a little cooler as the stainless deck probably acts as more of a heat sink than the ceramic of the RM2 does.

Honestly, overall I like using the RM2 better... but I'm (perhaps irrationally?) a little nervous about all the brass<-->juice contact. If the RM2 were all stainless, I'd still be using that. But the Cyclone/AFC is built a little more solidly, and works very well. I don't really have complaints with it on its own, just in comparison to the RM2. But I take comfort in the fact that it's 100% stainless, so I'm sticking with it.

Interesting, as time goes by I guess it's possible I'll come to that conclusion as well! I assume it's nothing a good vodka soaking can't temporarily cure, though, and I give it a vodka bath each time I build a new coil.

I got a "2013" cause I liked the idea of the curved deck.
And I'm getting another - bottom feed converted by Chowderhead, here on ECF. He knows where to put the holes, and I can't drill em myself. Not sure if he's still getting the "old" or "new" style - I don't mind either way. Just thought I'd mention it in case you weren't in that thread - he's buying Cyclones and good clones, and modding them specifically for REOs.

I don't like the fact that all Cyclones/Cyclops are drilled so high on the center posts because the juice sits there. I don't like the new ones with the flat deck either. I have one top fed Cyclone that I'm going to insulator drill soon and try I think I'll be looking for those in the classies.

If I was looking for a Cyclone, the shape of the new 2014 flat deck would not bother me. Of course, a dished deck will drain better, but, I cannot tell one ounce of difference between a flat and a dished deck in terms of vape quality, the wick is going to soak up those last couple of drops anyway after the first half a hit. Just a heads up for those specifically searching for a dished Cyclone, (like I would have a few months ago). Just my 2c.
