Thanks Bad , i just got notice from oversea's that my AGA-W shipped and heard another slightly different AGA is being made for the states albeit without the W threaded tank.
Look forward to seeing the Birk tank and the specs on it including true liquid capacity need more for my mods ! Hopefully they figured out they can use a push on cap to line up the airhole.
That airhole Bad you may suggest to them make it adjustable as some prefer a tight draw and some a more open draw- its easily done from within the cap. ; )

OK Can you Birkshre owners please explain to me why my shire turns my juice so dark (mesh or not). How I can fix this?
I want a large tank to work for me but all I ever end up with is dank juice. I end up dumping 1/4 the tank before I get to the end of my tanks. Never above 4.2v and never below 2.4ohm...

What happens with e-liquid and stainless mesh .
Think of it like drinking a milkshake you suck on straw and the rest goes back down into cup .
With mesh wicks e-liquid gets "heated in" the wick and while one may not see it some gets back washed into tank now couple that with being heated in or on the mesh and it darkens and concentrates the flavors stronger and with some e-liquid it can make the flavor rank, im lucky as my homemade RY4 taste in the better range and not the rank and when it eventually does over a period of many refills i unscrew everything on the top base and run under faucet no need to disassemble tank and clean the mesh wick and replace coil if need be.
Homemade e-liquid comes out very cheap if PG/VG/NIC/ FLAVORINGS are bought at the right vendor at the right time of year(best sales) in 500ml sizes or larger except the flavoring which i get in 10-30 ml sizes but those goes a long way as there highly concentrated . ; )

Darkening of the juice is the nature of the beast, with top coil/bottom tank devices, whether they're Genesis type RBAs, CE2s, Vivi Novas, etc. Some of the juice that's been heated near the coil leaches back down into the tank, and darkens the remainder. Some juice more than others.
When I clean my Gennys, I don't disassemble anything. I use a syringe, and fill the tank with Everclear, suck it back out, and repeat, as necessary. If the wick is open enough in the center enough that the syringe needle will fit, I'll squirt some Everclear down the center of the wick too. Suck the Everclear back out; dry burn the coil, brush the crud off the coil with a little Dentek brush; and it's done. You can substitute vodka for Everclear if the latter isn't available. I don't like disassembling Gennys unless I have to. Too many little nuts, seals, and stuff to loose or mess up.

Funny you mention everclear.
Quick story .
Back in the day i carved briar for my baccy pipes and even had a few expensive dunhills.
I used to use 190 grain alcohol to clean the shanks.
One Sunday early morning i was doing my weekly cleaning of them and decided to try it.
Went to cabinet got out shot glass filled it and well its the strongest stuff i ever ingested and about a minute later i had a splitting headache.

Depends on the juice, I guess. I make all my own juices. Tobaccos don't darken. They're usually pretty light to begin with. Juice with lots of caramel, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. do.

GV Choc Peanut Butter Cup, Butterscotch, 1/2 King & 1/2 caramel and Pyramid fusion do not change in a splitfire. Just sayin again.

Silica is a different breed its not steel screen where excess e-liquid easily drains back into tank after atty is fired there is a trade off steel mesh has benefits as well as silica.
I personally feel either is much less dangerous than them coffin nails. ; )
