Hi all.

I've been vaping for a year or so now. Started with a little stick battery and basic tank and moved on to a bigger and better setup. I've been using an itaste MVP 3.0 for the past 7 months or so and recently got an Aspire Triton Mini tank.

The past few weeks, my MVP has started misfiring. About 1 in every 5 puffs, the battery fires my 1.2ohm coil up to 6 ohms leaving me a horrible burnt cloud and a ruined coil. I've decided it's time to have an upgrade!

I'm pretty inexperienced with all the advanced stuff and been trying my best to get my head around it. I think I've settled on a Wismec RX200. I've not really one for vaping at really high wattage or sub ohm vaping. Just looking for a decent mod with long battery life and temperature control. I hope the Wismec is a good choice!

The real headache I'm having is batteries. I'm not use to removable batteries and I tried reading a few battery guides and got even more confused with the mAh, amp and CDR numbers. So I'm wondering what batteries would be best for the Wismec? I've seen good ratings for the efest IMR 18650 3.7v 3500mAh battery. Would this be a good choice? Also, will I need a separate battery charger or can I plug in the Wismec into a micro USB charger like I did with my old MVP?

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have the Wismec and love it. I am running LG HG2's (3000 mah 20Amp), and have two sets - both labeled. It's important to use and charge the batteries in sets so that one battery doesn't carry the load or become the weak link causing a battery failure. You'll love the mod.

I would suggest a 4 bay charger like the Nitecore or Xtar, AND 18650;s like the LG HG2's, Samsung 25r's, or Sony VTC4's.

DO NOT BUY EFEST! They are rewraps of other manufacturer's seconds. Not to be trusted.

I use Samsung 25r batterys exclusively..... With the rx200 you will need 3 18650. I recommend the 25r or look in to some lg or Sony batterys. Don't ever skimp on batterys. May wanna look into getting 6 batterys that way you have backup.. Also an external charger would be a good idea

Thanks for the reply, I look into them.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know that efest are not to be trusted. I shall definitely check out LG HG2's. Just a quick question, what does it mean when a battery carries the load? Also, one thing I loved about the MVP was that I could charge and vape at the same time. I've seen on pictured that the Wismec has a micro USB port. Does that mean it's possible to charge and vape? That is, if I don't have any spare charged batteries to hand.

First the charge port.. it will be slower than a separate charger (which you can get for $20). Check out Liionwholesale for good prices on batteries and chargers.

There are 3 batteries used in the Wismec. If one battery is stronger than the other two is will draw more of the work, and heat up more than the other two. Heat leads to battery failure. If the batteries are used/charged together they stay balanced and less likely to fail. Failure with batteries usually means an ouch, and sometimes a very bad ouch.

You can charge and vape at the same time. Separate battery chargers are recommended by the ECF battery experts for ALL mods.

The Wismec RX200 is a very good choice. I have two of them and recommend them highly. There are two known problems with it. One, the balanced charging board doesn't work well for in-mod charging. I strongly recommend a stand alone charger. Next, the 510 connector in the mod is not as good of quality as it might be. It can be lived with, or replaced, but I do want you to hear the caveat. The batteries I recommend for the RX200 are the LG HG2s-- those are the ones I use, and I have a dozen of them-- or the Panasonic 30Qs. Batteries in removable battery mods should be "married," that is kept in pairs, or triples for the RX, and always used and charged together as a group. Don't mix and match, is what I am saying. I'll be happy to tell you why if you're interested.

For further advice, think Nitecore or Xtar when you buy a charger. With the RX, you'll be charging 3 at a time, so a 4-bay charger is a wise choice. I have a Nitecore D4 and and I4, as well as an Xtar VC4, and can recommend any of them as solid and effective products. I like the Nitecores slightly better than the Xtar. The chargers can be safely bought on eBay from top rated sellers, but buy your batteries only from known quality suppliers. You're going to want at least 2 complete sets of batteries, that is 6 total. The easiest way I know of to keep your batteries married in pairs is to rewrap them in colors; Fat Daddy Vapes is where I bought the wraps you see in the attached photo. Finally, if you are a bit turned off by the janky 510 in the RX, I personally think the best buy in a two battery mod right now is the Smok Koopor Plus. My RX batteries (the yellow set is in one of the mods):

I am switching from Cig-A-Likes to a MOD and I would appreciate suggestions. Not fond of the box MOD's and would prefer something more stealthy like a cylinder style. Looking at the Smok Stick One but the Nano One has caught my eye along with the X Cube.
A little more info would be helpful. Are you mouth to lung, or direct lung? Do you want subohm?

Steve I would suggest an iStick 30 watt and Aspire Nautilus Mini tank. Yes the iStick is a mod of sorts, but it's smaller than most tube mods in height and really tiny in diameter. I would suggest going to a local vape shop to see them in person. For a mouth to lung vape the Nautilus is about as good as it gets to simulate a cig.

Suprtrkr those are all great questions I would say mouth to lung but I really do not inhale vape into my lungs very often to be honest. I guess being a former PAD smoker that must sound odd. As for the sub Ohm I am not sure because the clouds are not what I am looking for but the Mark Ten XL do give a decent vape like a cigarette used to for me.

@Sir2fyablyNutz is right. The iStick 30 and a Nautilus is the way to go.

Most any mod is going to be far better than an iStick , especially since you will NEVER get warranty coverage with an Eleaf mod or Joytech mod .

Most people do not want to support companies that say F U to their customers but everyones different .

A RX 200 is a excellent device , the only Joytech product i would recommend actually . Batteries can be had for under $12.00 a pair and a good charger under $20.00.

Replaceable battery mods can last years , far far longer than any built in battery mod .

No opinions on the SMOK line of MOD's?
I have the Smok Cube II and a Koopor Plus, both box mods that work well. The Nautilus will work on any mod with a 510 connection. Coming from a cig a like the Nautilus Mini is a large step, but not jumping into the deep end of vape. I suggest the iStick for it's ease of use/similarity to a cylinder/size, but if you prefer another brand thats cool too. I have a Sigelei thats nice but my favorite is a Wismec RX200.

I own three of them; an Old Skool Magneto V1 mechanical (the one with the spider button), the Smok Treebox, a 50 watt TC one battery mod with a natural wood enclosure I think is beautiful, and a Koopor Plus. I can heartily recommend any of them, although I do not recommend mechs for users of lesser experience. Mechs are for very knowledgeable and extremely safety conscious users. I think, right now, the Koopor Plus is the best buy available-- price, quality, features-- in a two battery, high watt mod. The Koopor is far left, the Treebox second from the right, the RX200 far right.

Me too. I am not a fan of the iStick, but it's a solid choice for somebody moving up from cigalikes or pen types. There is better gear available, however.
