Okay guys, I'm reaching the end of my tether with the clearomizer I've been using for the past five days. As such I'd like to make a bit of an upgrade to a more capable component.

So far I've been using Vision Ego V3 clearomizers. They've been cost-effective because instead of replacing the cartomizers as needed, I could just replace the heads (it's a rebuildable): a much cheaper option than replacing the entire thing.

Anyway. I'm asking for some good suggestions for what to go to next. I would really prefer it if it could work well with the ego-c upgrade batteries I have and would rather it be a cost-effective solution in the long term, much like the rebuildable clearomizers.

I didn't like the pro tank 3 very much. I'm actually a fan of the Davide over the pro tank. I get a better vape from the davide bcc over the kanger. I just got some vape mail with an aspire bdc conversion for my davide and I expect that to be a champ after everything I've seen regarding those aspire dual coil heads. Like was said above, ymmv.

For a minor step up you might look into a Kanger T3S. Still a clearo, but has a larger capacity. It's not a giant, heavy tank so it fits well on an eGo battery. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've had no leaking problems or any other complaints with them and like them as well as my Pro Tanks. They have replaceable heads, but I just rebuild my own with cotton wicks.

Go dual -coil....Either a Vivi Nova (top coil, warmer vape) or a Kanger pro tank 3 (bottom-coil, cooler, better flavor) Just my two cents,,YMMV (your mileage may vary)- Dave :)

Thanks! I'm such a n00b in this area of technology. :(

Oh wow, such a different experience with the same product. I guess it's much more a case of Trial and Error than I previously thought! Thank you

Yes because Taste/flavor is such a subjective and personal aspect -- you'll find a wide variance of opinions about which devices work best. For me personally I only used the warmer top coils for several months in the beginning and it wasn't until my wife accidently purchased the pro tank 3 that I began to appreciate the subtle flavor differences... (I'd sent her to check for a glass/pyrex tank for our vivi novas)... Try out a few of the better quality devices and something will fall into place for you..Best of luck---Dave

Personally, I believe your dissatisfaction with clearomizers will be the same no matter which brand or model you try. It's the wicking system of all clearomizers which eventually develop inconsistancy. You're depending upon a couple of tiny silica strings to wick enough e-liquid to the heating coil. If you are a moderate to heavy vaper, those tiny wicks are going to have trouble keeping up with your demands. This will lead to dry hits or burnt taste.

The OP mentioned he had used cartomizers before. A cartomizer uses a large wad of polyfill material which completely surrounds the heating coil. This is a marked increase of surface area which contains e-liquid. This insures that the heating coil always has enough e-liquid to produce vapor and not develop dry hits or burnt taste. The problem with using a carto solo is not being able to see the e-liquid level and know exactly when it needs to be refilled.

Using a pre-punched cartomizer in a cartotank eliminates this issue. With each puff on a cartotank, e-liquid is drawn into the cartomizer to replenish what is vaped. You can easily see when its time to refill a cartotank, as nearly all of them use a clear plastic or glass tube. A properly setup cartotank will provide better flavor and more consistancy than a clearomizer.

It totally is. I picked up a pt3 at a local b&m (brick and mortar) because they stopped selling the pt2. My wife stole my pt2 away after she cracked her ismoka mega tank with the fuzion vaper juices we use. That lasted me all of two days until I ordered my davide. Been puffing away on that for a few weeks now. I like it much better than the pt2 when I was still vaping it. I saw an aspire bdc coil review or 20 and decided to pick up the conversion setup for my davide. If its anything like what the reviews are saying, I'm expecting to not pick up anymore tanks for a very long time.

I think it's important to remember that with any delivery system there will be a certain amount of maintenance/work involved in insuring that it works properly. But there was work when we smoked cigarettes too, its just easy to overlook. We had to make sure our smokes were always kept dry. We couldn't let them get bent , broken,or Crushed... We couldn't let them get old or stale. We always had to carry a working ignition source, Books of matches or disposable lighters were as important as the cigarettes themselves...Some of us invested in expensive lighters like Zippo's or Ronson's in which case we had to keep up with and stay stocked up on butanes and fluids and flints....GEEZ, that's a lot of drama and upkeep just to insure our nicotine fix...That's why I think, despite its inconveniences, Vaping is ultimately much more simple.. :2c:

Oh I definitely agree. All the niggles I have are small niggles and they don't come close to the chest pain, indigestion, trips to the shop in the rain and snow, huge financial loss and sore throats that analogs and tobacco smoking caused. I don't miss smoking one bit.

I'm new to Vaping on anything other than a cig-a-like. In fact, I've only been using a bigger model for five days. So, I'm naive and new to everything that Vaping is at the moment.

Don't mention Zippos! I've spent hundreds on those things. Now they're just sat in my bottom drawer, doing nothing.

I honestly believe that you and I both have found the best possible place for honest, unbiased advice and guidance here on ECF. I count myself fortunate that others have helped pave the way before I even knew what an Ego was....

The EVOD is great for a lower end tank. they are cheap and vape amazingly, you can also just skip that step and go for a Kanger Unitank or the new Aero tank. Both vape amazing and pretty cheap for replacement coils. Viva novas from my experience flood and break a lot.

Just ordered an Aerotank. We'll see how that goes! :)

I don't even begin to believe I'm the expert you are... but... If I were to believe this statement then why are not all
vapers or at least the greater majority using cartos?

I have tried them (cartos)... and to date... my best of experiences have only shown that sooner or later one will find out
that a simple dry hit of a carto will only prove that there is a definite pollllllyfilled diaper supposedly filtering e-liquids.

Is a cartotank worse than most clearomizers... certainly not! But, better than most...
well, they're definitely not out selling them. And, there must be a good reason why.

I started with the Protank mini, the t3's, etc. I love them but recently started to use cartotanks. Much simpler for ME. Haven't been vaping for too long so all of the gory details are above my knowledge. However, for ease of use and consistency i am starting to like them.

Very small learning curve - check out the links BA pointed to, he has some very well written documents regarding use and up keep.

I don't see myself, at this time ever putting the clearomizers down for good, they will always have a place in my arsenal.

Just my opinion and you know what they say about those.

For once, I am going to disagree. :)

I threw away all my Vision V3s. I sent ALL my Kanger T3s to a newb who had the knack of re-building them and the last of my Vivi Novas were sent in the post to 3 x newbs.

BUT, I still use clearomisers day-to-day when at work or in town or shopping or...

They can be OK. They are getting better.
