how does one upload pics with a thread entry. format, size restrictions, etc....????

Do you mean for adding photos to a post? There is an attachment feature on the forum, but with limitations on size and each user's storage space. The better option is to upload images to an external image hosting site (imgur, tinypic, photobucket, etc). Any of those will give you the link for hotlinking on a forum that you just have to paste into the text of your post, some of them even allow you to resize the image during the upload process if you need to make it smaller
