My current setup is mvp 2.0 w/ nautilus. I really like the digital readout and passthrough function. I know with the majority of mech mods I lose those. I really want to start building coils and chasing clouds though. So essentially what if like to know is, which do you prefer? Why? And what devices you would recommend for an intermediate vaper..Thanks!

I love a regulated mod. However I do make an exception when it comes to a Reo bottom feeding box mod.

With a mechanical mod the only way to "fine tune" your vape is to build a new coil (or install another stock coil). With a high vv/vw regulated mod (and its buck/boost circuitry) you can "fine tune" with a push of a button. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen. Your first hit is just as good as your last hit.

There are lots of vv/vw mods to be found. the iStick 30W & 50W are very popular and can be found for $30-$50. And there are some great sub-ohm tanks out now (if you are a lung hitter). The eLeaf Delta II & the Kangertech Subohm (3 different sizes) both have a rebuildable base that can be purchased.

Little itty bitty mods under $100

I'm still new myself, also started with an MVP 20W and Nautilus mini. I've outgrown it and I just got a Kanger Subtank Mini and its a night and day improvement. I was torn between that and Atlantis but the rebuildable option, included 0.5 and 1.2 ohm coil (can use on MVP) and bigger juice capacity sold me. So far the Subtank on the MPV maxxed out is doing good but I want to give it more watts. I've been over analyzing mods soo much it hurts I considered IPV3, Cloupor T8, Sigelei 150W, iStick 50W and countless Mech mods but I think I'm finally decided on a Sigelei 150W. I want something proven, with long battery life I can put my Subtank or an RDA on is pretty much my criteria.

I recommend the iStick 50 watt. I've had it since before they were stocked. It's incredible. Goes down to 0.2 ohms. 4400 mAh battery. What more could you want for so cheap. Oh and it performs and performs well. For a tank it depends on what your looking for in a vape.

The delta II is nice with LVC. It's made by joyetech though and not eLeaf.
The Melo is also nice, newest tank by eLeaf. -eLeaf
I love the Lemo, rebuildable and hybrids to the eVic. -eLeaf

Generally speaking, for "cloud chasing" you'll need either a mechanical mod or a "high-wattage" regulated mod and use a rebuildable atomizer. A regular regulated mod (like the MVPJ) will have amp limitation/protection circuitry which will hamper clouds production.

I started with a MVP 2.0 as well. Went through several tanks before I landed on the Kanger Aerotank. Gave me good cloud and great flavor but just wasn't enough after about 6 months. Plus I hated all the coils I was going through. I finally graduated to a mech mod. The Stingray x and a Sigelei Fu Chai. I use a Tobh sitting at .14 ohms and use purple Efest batteries. Happy with all the upgrades now. I have a Youtube channel you may want to check out. It is for newbs and by a newb (me) :) Just search channels Donny B and my channel will be like the 4th one down. You will see E cig DIY products in the foreground and my fat head in the background. Check it out, I talk about the same transition that you are making in my latest video review of the Fu Chai. Happy Vaping and keep us posted on what you decide!!!

You may be over the amp limit for those Efest batteries, depending upon which purple Efest you're using.

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

Explain it for the dumb noob: Ohm's Law calculations

1.0 ohm = 4.2 amp draw
0.9 ohm = 4.6 amp draw
0.8 ohm = 5.2 amp draw
0.7 ohms = 6 amp draw
0.6 ohms = 7 amp draw
0.5 ohms = 8.4 amp draw
0.4 ohms = 10.5 amp draw
0.3 ohms = 14.0 amp draw
0.2 ohms = 21.0 amp draw
0.1 ohms = 42.0 amp draw
0.0 ohms = dead short = battery goes into thermal runaway
