my 2 cents

you quit 7 months ago - you are no longer addicted to nicotine

I have to disagree. I don't have any cites to hand (and I've spent too much time on the forum today and need to get some things done so, sorry) but there exists research that suggests strongly that long term smoking can irreparably damage dopamine production. There's a good chance that for some percentage of us, nicotine addiction is forever.

I know the anti-smoking crew insists it "clears out of your system" and all in X amount of time but they say a lot of things. Like vaping is fully of anti-freeze and is worse than smoking. So I have a hard time trusting them...

Do it Dannyboyyyyyyyyy, don't worry about what other people think. vape away and enjoy.

I quit smoking at the end of August. Ego with CE4 and never looked back since. I still get "the urge" sometimes but then again I think we all do at some point.

I am currently enjoying a few drinks with my wife and the nic urge has tried to bite, I have a vape and it's gone.

Go for it and give it a try, it might not be for you but you'll never know if you don't give it a go.

Good luck !!

Thanks so much - just the answer I wanted!!

Oh, by the way, since you got me thinking of it, my most successful quit was ended by a trip to a bar. Where I got the urge to have "just one".

I bought a pack about five minutes later.

(This was back when there were cig dispensing machines in the US so I could buy a pack without even leaving the bar)

Man I wish vaping had existed then.

A few months into vaping, I was around some neighbors who lit up. And you know how if one smoker lights up, everybody does? I'm standing out there talking to two smokers, did not have my PV with me, and, you know what? I didn't care.

I found I still liked the smell of the smoke but didn't have any urge to smoke. It was a pretty amazing moment.

But, yeah, if you've got nicotine pulling at you and you're going to be at a pub, drinking, and there's going to be smoking around you? That's risking going right back to the cancer sticks.

Been there, done that, regretted it for the next twenty years...

One of my friends/colleagues used to smoke a pipe, he doesn't miss the nicotine but he really misses sitting down of an evening and having a puff to relax. He's now bought himself a zero nicotine ePipe kit and absolutely loves it. He probably never would have gone back to a real pipe but it's a part of his life he desperately missed and he gets the same satisfaction without any of the harm.

Good luck!

Sister quit smoking 35 yrs ago. She still has the occasional urge. Myself I quit many times for 6 months at a time using traditional smoking cessation progs and cold turkey...for all those times I was white knuckling it all the way through and wasn't happy at all.
I don't usually recommend ex smokers take up vaping BUT at the same time I understand and feel from where you're coming from. If it's a choice between not smoking or vaping and being stressed and unhappy I'd suggest you go ahead with your plan.
Many don't understand some of us are addictive in nature and it's a lot tougher for some to kick any habit....goes much deeper than just the smoking itself at least it does for myself.
Best of Luck.

I know your already at the pub vaping. I just wanted to add something that I didnt see mentioned.

I have never been out at a bar and had ANYONE (friends or strangers) say anything about vaping. In my experience everyone is generally curious and intrigued. I have had one guy (my sister-in-laws boyfriend) start trying to tell me how that was so much worse for my health than smoking. But I just politely asked him where he got his information and then explained why he was wrong. He is now vaping too. =D

So dont worry about what your friends think. They will probably be curious more than anything.
