In response to a question from an audience member, Frieden said he does not know whether the increasingly popular e-cigarettes have helped prevent tobacco use. The effect of e-cigarettes is still a mystery to the CDC — they’ve been difficult to study since there is such a wide variety of products put into them.

If the folks at CDC simply read some of the hundreds of e-mails I've sent them about e-cigarettes, the agency wouldn't be so clueless about the products.

Here's another article about Frieden's talk in Oklahoma that quotes Frieden falsely claiming
"tobacco is the No. 1 cause of preventable death in the country. We know it's killing people."
CDC chief: Tobacco use still top killer in Okla. - SFGate

Frieden knows that cigarette smoking (not tobacco) is the leading cause of preventable death, but he's been trying to deceive the public
to believe all tobacco use is as hazardous as cigarette smoking.

Personally, I think the majority of the CDC's publications are pure rubbish as are the FDA's and so on and so on. They manipulate facts to cater to whatever opinion they would like us to believe to cover up their special interests. If anyone wanted to dive into this, they would see that Obesity is, in fact, the leading cause of preventable death in the US. The CDC separates the individual diseases caused by obesity into categories such as heart disease and diabetes, etc. Obesity directly affects 1 in 3 Americans and is #1 cause of all of those diseases. If they were put into one category, then it would surely surpass anything else by a large margin.....I could go on and on, but I rest...Im sure everyone is well aware of how they conspire against what they do not like or can not control...

All they have to do is spend a couple of weeks here at ECF. There's no mystery to ecigs, this sounds like a cop-out. But then again, at least he's not shooting from the hip and saying they're worse than cigs.

I suggest the CDC, the FDA, and EVERY OTHER corrupt lying Government Agency
knows the truth but has agendas.

Anyone on the planet with a telephone and a computer ... can easily find the truth.

In this case ...
All the CDC needs to do is read their emails.
How difficult is that ??
:p

I truly feel sorry for the CDC in General.

Historically, all the CDC wanted to do was to Advance Science and Control Diseases. Unfortunately, although Science and Diseases are Non-Partition, the funding and the Direction the CDC had to follow Wasn't.

Today, the CDC is more of a Tool for Political Gain than an Entity which could Benefit Mankind as a Whole.

BTW - Who does the CDC Report To?

The Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sibelius. She has a boatload of agencies reporting to her.

Yeah, well, it's kinda hard to read emails when your head's stuck in the sand...

And this:

they’ve been difficult to study since there is such a wide variety of products put into them

???? ???? Those poor researchers, trying so hard to find out about e-cigs, which are SOOOOOO much harder to study than, say, the human genome... or SARS..... or MERS....

The problem is that the CDC doesn't have Free Reign to research what they want to.

And if the Powers that be say No Funds go to e-Cigarette Research, well, then No Research is going to be Done at the CDC.

BTW - If the CDC was to Study e-Cigarettes. And if they came out and said that in their Scientific Opinion that e-Cigarettes posed a Significant Reduction in Harm to Smoking. And there Risk of e-Cigarette use appeared to be Very Low.

How might this Effect pending FDA Regulations?

Or More Importantly. How would it Effect the Ability of BT to Gain Market Dominance in the e-Cigarette Market?
