I just picked up one of the "ultimate" versions which is the middle version. The cheapest one with a veritube 510 basically. I got it because I thought I could build on it too but it started turning when I was tightening a screw on an atty so I guess I can't build on it. What's the point of getting the "ultimate" version for $5-$6 more then? A more durable 510 connection?

Anyway my real question for this thread is about the number fluctuations. I figured that it was normal because of the accuracy or whatever but what if your number in the hundredths is one of the numbers that changes? Like if your reading fluctuates more than just a few thousandths but it fluctuates one one hundredth or more? Does that mean you may have a short or is that normal as well?

Is it happening with every atty and every coil?
It's either a loose coil, bad atty, or that loose varitube. Pull off the bottom of the reader and crank down the nut holding the varitube.
Good luck.

I feel like it's happening with every atty. I need to really sit down and test each tonight. I'm using 2 week old El Cabron and twisted messes RDAs and an Archon that I've put two builds into btw. I was getting a steady reading with my twisted messes finally last night to where only the last number was fluctuating with a variance of +\- 0.004. It was dancing around 305. So then I pop the top cap on and it drops to around 278! Is this normal? And no the cap is not touching my coils. That was the first thing I checked.

I did contact USA ohm and we are talking about it via email. He asked me to make him a video of it happening so I will attempt to tonight when I get off.

So I didn't get to test all my attys tonight but I ran into another weird instance while I was building a STM deck for a friend. So I did 6 wraps 26g N80 with a 2mm ID that read 809 or so on the USA ohm reader but when I popped it on my Sigelei 150w and fired it a few times it read a steady 0.5. Wth?? Then I just screwed the 1.2 OCC head in the tank and put it on the USA ohm reader and it read a steady 1.30.

Now if I can't build a simple micro coil on the STM single coil deck correctly without any shorts then I need to go back to the basics and re-learn everything I know about building. I don't get it.

Did you try it on the ohm meter after firing ?
Either way, I'd trust the meter over my sigelei any day.
But.. That coil does sound like it should be closer to .5 ??????

Yes I did, and it still read 80x or whatever it was. Definitely stumped me  My sigelei has usually been at least .1 ohms of my readers though.

I sent mine back for a refund after having the same problem. Fluctuations going up or down .5+ and totally out of whack readings when compared to my mods and other ohm meter. I think it was the extremely weak springed floating 510 in the meter. The owner refused to even entertain the notion that one of his meters could possibly be faulty or inaccurate. Made several rude comments that I was comparing his meter to "cheap chinese ####". I guess he didn't realize that an SX Mini isn't exactly cheap. Not the best vendor experience I have had.

So did you have the veritube ultimate ohm reader version?? Or the cheapest one?

I had the one with a spring loaded connector. At the time the website said either a Varitube or FDV depending on stock. No idea which one was in the meter I had. The spring was really weak. Like slight pressure from a q-tip would push it in all the way. I think the chip in the meter is good but the connector was bad. His lack of appropriate customer service skills led me to send it back without him asking me to. I would've of went for a replacement but he didn't offer.

How long ago was this? I'm dealing with him right now but so far we are just going back and forth with emails trying to figure out what's wrong

Please let us know the customer service response. I was just going to order one, but...maybe not if there is a support problem.
Oh don't worry. I plan to. I just sent him a video of my atty with the reading changing when I put the top cap on and then changing again when I take the top off to a different reading than the original. I haven't got a response yet.

To update you guys, after I sent the video he replied that it was very weird and asked me to send it back and said he would replace it. I paid for the shipping and he didn't say anything yet about reimbursement for that or when he would send the replacement.

I had to send mine back because it wouldn't read any of my RDAs, and would only read Atlantis coils here and there.
I waited until after the 30 day manufacturer warranty period had passed, so I paid for shipping his way and he paid the way back.
It was a loose wire, and all is well now. He's kind of odd, but not the worst CS experience I've had, to be sure.

I emailed to ask if he received it yet yesterday and he said he just got it and will try to look at it today. I did send an email days ago asking about shipping costs but he didn't say anything about it. I wonder if he'll cover it since I only had it for 2 days before I sent it back. How quick was the turnaround for you when you sent yours back?

Why do you say he's odd? lol. I mean I agree but I'm wondering why you think so as well.

I shipped it June 2nd, received an email from him on the 6th saying he 'detected' the problem, and that he was shipping it back...and I got it yesterday, which was the 15th...something a bit off in that math.
and he just, he's weird, lol. The way he phrases things... in the last email,
'This will be fixed and sent back out on Monday for you...apparently no charge'
Wth is that? and that Monday would have been the 8th...
I would think language barrier, but you know...American made
I don't know, perhaps he's just an odd bird.
