USB 5V Lithium Li-ion Battery 1 Cell Charger Board

Has anyone used one of these? Looks like a simple way to make a charger cord for a mod. I'm thinking the board could even fit nicely into a box mod.

In my opinion, This one should works...

The output 4.2v 400mA should be fine and safe for battries with 800mAh or higher.

Yes, I've completed two mods thus far using this exact board. I removed the large USB and used an RCA and a mini USB. Both work really well. I'll try and post some pictures when I get home. Been meaning to do that for quite some time now anyway.

To clarify, I placed this board inside a 2xAA Box from Madvapes and use it to charge a 14500 900mah battery. It fits great, little tight, but fits well. Just make sure to space everything out before drilling...

A charger cord would be a great idea however...might need to try that on my next mod.

Looks like a MAX1555 chip and support circuit, should work just fine. *Very* cheap price, hard to get the chip alone for that unless you're ordering huge quantities. Wish it had a mini-B socket rather than a full-size A plug, but it would be a fairly straightforward replacement.

Would this charger board be good for making a passthrough? I'm thinking that I'd hook the battery output to both the battery and the atty connector (via a switch of course).

Just hook to the battery, that connects to your atty (via the switch) and you're golden.

I don't think it can handle the power (400 mA) for a pass-through as a standalone power supply.

I built one using the same eBay board but use a 14500 in line to act as a buffer. Just unplug when I get out of the truck.

I have also used a cell phone charger (12v cig lighter type) it too has the charging circuitry built in so as not to overcharge. I think they all pretty much have the same chip as they are all rated about the same.
And it has the nice curled cord and mini USB M connector already on it.

I guess I could sacrifice one to the e-cig deities as I have several from old phones and they are only a buck or two on eBay with free shipping from China. (Don't know how they can do that)

I bought 2 lots (20 ea) of mini USB DIY connectors just last week (waiting to get them still) that I am going to put in ALL my mods from now on. $5.99 and free shipping.

Looks like they are missing a couple of pins. These could be data only - No power. Let us what you find -- great price if they are 5 pin.

Sparkfun electronics sells a max1555 board with a mini usb and higher current barrel input. $17 I believe smaller than a quarter. And it has a pass through circuit

Did a little measuring and it looks like 4054 Li-ion charger chip, Mine seems to be programed (2K ohms) for 500ma max charge current. has a 1n5817 Schottky input diode, small input filter capacitor, a 1K ohm led resistor. I like it. Hopefully I use it before I lose it

Can't quite make out the number on the 8 pin chip. But Mad indicates it's probably 200ma max. 150 to 200 sounds about right for a 510 charger. Don't know why it would be more.

i hooked it up to the battery last night. took some time but it went from red to green.

it is indeed a 501 charger and the numbers are SL1051D
