USB/Car Charger Safety

Hi y'all,

I understand that one must remove batts from chargers when charging is done, especially in a hot vehicle, but is there any reason one can't leave the car charger plugged into the cigarette lighter receptacle? And can the USB charger stay plugged into that?

I can't imagine that it wouldn't be okay, but I thought I ought to check, since I'm giving a truck driver friend a little Volt setup to play with... I wouldn't want to be the reason for truck destruction.......

I leave my car chargers plugged in all the time. Never had any problems. Still have some that are 5 years old that work

I leave mine in the socket, but I lift it out/unplug it when not in use. I leave the dongle or cable attached, then just push it back in when I need to use it again.

I have not unplugged my phone charger from the lighter socket in my truck in 5 years. I also haven't unplugged my x2 charger or 78mm dongle in the last year. They all work fine and have never impacted my truck battery.

I have a question about car chargers. I have a Volt Spinner and I know I have to use the special Spinner cable (which I purchased). Can I still use the Smokless Image car charger for my Spinner? Can I use ANY car charger which has a usb connector?

and yes a car adapter is fine
