Hi all,

I was looking at getting something like this to use with my PT while at work in the van.

Does anyone use something similar while on the move with a PT.

I think it would be a good idea instead of using batteries while driving about but not sure if it would blow up my 510 PT.

Any thoughts??

I have the dual usb Belkin and it works just fine. The dual has a 1.5amp peak, 1 amp continuous which is good for other PTs and also a 'quick charge' 1amp peak, 500ma continuous port good for charging batteries and can work on the PT as well if you have another vaper in the car/truck. Not sure what the rating on the one you show is but 1amp is recommended for PT's - some don't have the inline battery and you never know what you might end up with ;-)

Cignot used to have a 1amp car charger - no longer listing it, although they have the wall plug. Here's mine:

Amazon.com: Belkin Dual USB Car Charger for iPod (Black): Electronics

You might get a better deal but look for the 1amp spec. If no spec is listed, that's not a good sign ;-)

Thanks for the replies guys :thumb:
The Belkin model I pictured is rated at 1000mA, 5V, so should suit my needs but I will look at a few other versions/brands to see whats best :)

One other thing, can a PT be left in a USB port most of the time, or could it damage the unit?
I assume it would have a cutoff for charging but there was not much info in the box with the PT.
It's a 510 PT from TW.

:)

If it's 1000mA then you'll be good with that one Belkin has a pretty good name in this stuff. And you can leave the PT hooked up. There's a cutoff on the battery and the charger. Some FDA/EPA types will say to disconnect it I suppose.

Cheers matey, I recieved it today and will give it a try tomorrow and hopefully give my batteries a rest until really needed :)

Also bought a sunglasses case for the mighty sum of £4.00. It's just long enough to fit all my mega 510's in whole and lots of room for spares and a 15mm dropper bottle :D

You won't have any problems with a 510 PT of even half that rating because of the battery. Basically it trickle feeds from your USB supply and when you vape it discharges to provide the power for the atty. That stops it blowing USB ports on PCs etc. Other non battery PTs draw their power directly from the supply and could cause problems!!

I've been shopping for the sunglasses cases - wife has one that the Tornado fit in perfectly. It has a pocket clip as well. I'm looking for one for the Protege too - so far, they're not wide enough.

The Belkin is nice to have!

I can just get the PT in there as well but I don't like squashing the wiring together as it will only break sooner than later :)

Bought the Belkin lighter adapter and it's working well in my car.
Shame the socket in the van does not work which is why I bought it :-x
I just have to splice the wiring and it will be good to go :)

I know there are a few truck lighters where it doesn't work as well.

The glasses case I was looking for (reading glasses, not sunglasses) was this one:
