does anyone have problems with their wall charger? Mine stopped working after 2 days. It also ruined the USB charger and now the light never turns green. I read on one vendor site that the output has to be 5V on USB but they only put out 4V. I don't get it.

I know these things are cheap and I went to a site in China and purchased a bunch for about $1 a piece. I paid $9 for the wall charger and USB cord from a NC vendor. Vendor was not very accommodating. I spent a lot of $ with that vendor, but will not use them again because they were a bit arrogant, and not very trusting regarding my return of the wall charger. They lost my business.

Thanks Renzuli - I appreciate the welcome. Not having good luck with my vaping experience so far. Because of the charger issue, I will use tobacco at some point this week. I spent a lot of $$ on vaping only to have an issue charging, so I will be smoking tobacco until I get a charger. One vendor I have an order with will not answer my emails. I placed an order for juice and wanted to add a USb charger to the order, but they have not returned my emails in 2 days and they have not fulfilled my order. Who knows, maybe I'll take up smoking pipe tobacco instead.

Stick with it. I went through a few weeks of gear trouble, including a broken wall charger. I ended up getting a ProVari, but any mod that takes a removable, standard battery is an improvement. You can get a quality charger (I got a Pila) that has a warranty and is built much better. I absolutely hated the 510 batts I was using. And the cartos. It takes some trial and error to find the gear that's right for you but it's worth it. I spent about $300/month on cigs, and that buys a LOT of vaping options to try.

You have 3 devices (battery, UBS, and wall wart) which have to have matching voltage and amperage inputs and outputs.

A typical eGo or 510 style battery requires a 4.2v 420mA input.
That means you need a UBS cord with an output of 4.2v 420mA.
A typical UBS cord with an output of 4.2v 420mA requires an input of 5v 500mA.
That means you need a wall wart with an output of 5v 500mA.

I used the term typical -- not all devices are typical, depends on the vendor.

So.....

First find the required input for your battery. You might need to check the vendors website or go to a B & M and have it tested.

Next find a UBS that has an output value that is the same as the battery input value. The output value should be marked on the UBS. If you have an unmarked UBS, throw it away and get a new one before you do any accidental damage. The UBS should also have the required input value marked.

Finally, find a wall wart that has an output value that is the same as the UBS input value. As above, the value should be marked on the wall wart and should be tossed if it is not marked.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Dan! That was extremely helpful and exactly what I needed to know about USB chargers and "wall warts". Never heard that term, but made me laugh. Unfortunately, I'm smoking cigarettes today. The whole purpose of the vaping was to get away from tobacco. I need to find better vaping products so I can get my fix when I need it. Thanks for your help!:)

You're welcome.

One last item: you'll discover (and hear wonderful things about) passthrough batteries. They can indeed be terrific and although many people have zero issues with them, a little research on the ECF threads will turn up a lot of horror stories of people frying their PC ports and motherboards when connected directly to their PC as opposed to being connected to the wall outlet. If you decide to buy a passthrough, please please please do not connect the UBS cord directly to your PC, stick with the wall wart.

Unless you're absolutely positive your computer can handle it, yes.

You know, Skoot, I'ld rather err on the side of caution. This is still a young industry that has shown rather inconsistent quality control, and the passthroughs are relatively new -- with my lousy luck I would get a unit that was tested by a trainee.
