okay so.

Ive a janty stick thats dead on arrival, - so while theyre sending me a new one i decided to fumble around with it.

It turns out it was the circuit board that was fried for some reason. So i ripped it out, connected the battery directly to an ON/OFF switch and it works.

However, now i wanna try the usb passthrough - and im guessing (without knowing anything here..) that the circuit board + integrated usb plug, is something that goes together to recharge the batteries?

I mean, ive heard about usb mods, but what im looking for here is ;

1) Can someone tell me the easiest way for me to take a standard usb cable, and somehow hook it up to my atomizer, for infinite power ( ill add the on/off switch myself )

and 2) Is there an equal easy way of doing the above, but also have it recharge my batteries at the same time?

much appreciate your info on this matter!

recharge batteries at the same time? not i cant help you there.. however....
as far as a passthough, its easy, i made one for my 901

take a usb cord and cut it open at the end opposite the usb plug.. the red wire is + and the black wire is- run the black wire directly to where the battery screws on (the outside of the screw base on a 901) and solder it on...
run the red wire to one side of a switch and from the switch to the center part of the screw base... .. now don't take my word for which part is - and + on the battery screw base, because i have a 901, however it should not matter really since when you stick power to the atty its nothing more than a completed short circuit;)

also if you want a led light still liek i did, run a negative wire directly to the led on the - side and run a wire from the other side of the switch( side that only gets power when the switch is depressed) to the + side...
also i'd not even attempt this unless your a competent solderer, and make sure you srink wrap all your soldered joints, if they make contact to the battery body you could short out the usb port and that will be bad lol

any questions?

Hmm..

First off, thanks!

Secondly:

What i did was to rip apart my janty stick, right, and ive then soldered wires to my atomizer, and hooked up everything so i can basically use the battery compartment and everything in the janty stick (including the on/off switch), - so if that all works ( and it does, even with a battery ), wouldnt i be able to strip a usb cable as you say, and simply hook the + and minus, onto my existing on/off switch? Wouldnt that "complete" the circuit anyways? If you understand what i mean?

Ie. replacing the "battery" for the + and - of the usb cable in the mod ive already done?

Also theoretically, what would happen if i did swap minus and plus by accident - will my usb port die, or is it "only" the atomizer?

yea, you could do that too.. when i built my usb passthrough, i managed to kill my switch, it was a pressure switch, and not a manual...
so yea if your just eliminating the battery, rip the circut board out and solder away
as far as getting the wires backwards? well if you did screw up, i dont think too much would happen actually , however to be safe i used my usb wallplug for charging my i phone before my computer, its a bit cheaper than a computer;)
main think is to avoid short circuts inside the tube itself.. ie, both + and - touching the tube at the same time would cause an internal short circut

Okay it works, thanks a bunch.. man what a vapor production beast this thing is.

So the led thing, - one thing comes to mind, if i do what you say, wont i effectively make a short circuit, or cant a led itself "carry" over the current?

Or am i completely misunderstanding the led placement? .. if you could be bothered to make a diagram that would be awesome!
