The battery connection threads are different as between the penstyle (801) and the mini (901) models.

So, you would need the 901 passthrough for the 901, and a different 801 or penstyle passthrough for the 801. Other than that, yes you can buy one or both from any supplier who has them and they should work fine.

yvilla, thanks, that's what I was trying to figure out, though my post wasn't very clear. I thought I had read somewhere here (I've read so much!) that the passthroughs from other suppliers wouldn't work with the e-cigs from ruyandirect.com. I can tell I'm going to need the passthrough, just wanted to make sure they'd work. I understand I'll have to purchase one for each model I bought. Thanks again!

Sometimes people have found that certain atomizers fail to make the electrical connection with their USB passthrough. But, that's often worked around by just trying a different atomizer, or even by pulling up the center pole a bit on the atomizer that's not firing, so that it makes contact with the center pole on the USB battery connector.

But there should be no reason why the ecigs from Wayne's site would in themselves be different from any other 801 or 901 in that regard.

That is, you didn't say you bought one of the newer style 901s; if so, I'm afraid I don't know about it's compatibility with regular 901 parts.

I have some experience with the ruyandirect 801 atomizers and the passthroughs. Out of the box, no they do not work. But all you have to do with the atomizer is grip the black ring around the brass connection and peel it off with a pair of pliers, then they work. However, ruyandirect now sells rn4072 atomizers at a ridiculous price and those work out of the box no problem. But the 4072 atomizers he carries are 2 hole. Also wayne does plan on carrying the passthroughs soon, not sure when but you can ask him if you want.

Ainako, so it sounds like the black ring on his 801 atomizer is just big enough that it is preventing the two center poles (atomizer/USB battery) from making connection.

Would you say it is better to remove the black ring than to try pulling up on the atomizer's center pole? Or using the tin foil mod? I ask because I've had several atomizers that have lost the black ring, usually after cleaning, and that changes the draw considerably - makes it a bit too light, as the air holes are then much more exposed.
