Hey all, just got an eGo two days ago. I'm not really satisfied with the TH. So, after spending a couple hours looking at the forum here I've decided I'll need a HV mod. I was thinking I could forego a battery powered mod and go straight for a USB powered mod.

I've seen one review of a "for sale" usb mod but haven't really seen a "howto" on the subject. So let me lay out what I have available to me: a flashlight(torch), an atty, a battery, a USB cable (I can find the pinout for it). Is it as simple as wiring the + lead from the USB cable to the appropriate spot of the atty? - lead to the appropriate spot on the atty and throw a switch somewhere between? Am I missing anything? USB provides 5v so, shouldn't need a regulator.

Can I get threads to hold the atty from madvape.com or do I have to kill one of my batts?

Yeah, basically, it's that damn simple. If your in a hurry and have a 901 or 808 you can get the adapter to hold the attie from radio shack, in the parts bins, look for a coax n power jack - more expensive than a real connecter from mad vapes but no wait time either.
You don't need the pinout on your usb cable, just know that your 5v and ground are the two outside pins and run continuity to find which wires are those two pins. I did mine following the directions for a nicostick (which has the part numbers for radioshack and is an awesome walkthrough) and used a 2-AA battery box (easy to drill out and cheap).
The hardest part was the soldering, and that's simple once you know that you heat the parts, then touch the solder to the hot parts.

Oh yeah....words of encouragement: You can do it!! Kick that passthrough in the ....!!

Just a small addition to the soldering part. Grab urself some flux as well. Put a lil flux on ur wires and connection before u start to solder each contact. This will allow for a better contact and clean the impurities out of the connection. Make sure to clean the flux away with some alchohol after you are done. You can tell it is all gone when it isnt sticky anymore.

Ok, got my flashlight (gutted and drilled), switch wired to USB cable. Just waiting on a 510 batt connector for the atomizer.

Couple of questions that have cropped up.

1) Is this batt. connector going to have leads? If not, whats the best process for connecting it to wire?

2) What is a good material to use for stopping up the holes on the ends of the flashlight body? I was thinking a cork material I saw at the hardware store.
