This is my design for the box I'm going to do for practice while waiting on parts for VV.

I have seen it asked many times, but I don't think anyone has answered.
Can you use a box wired like this for charging, as a PT while it is charging??

Another question - If I can use this as a PT, will the 2amp power supply be enough for
a dual coil carto? They are 1.6 ohm so I believe they draw a little more amps, correct?

You should beable to vape while charging. But it will pulling most of the amps off the battery. That design is not a true passthrough. Even though a lot of folks call them that. Your only going to get what the battery charger is putting out going into the PV Not what the AC adapter can put out. So if it is a 500mA USB charger thats the most that is going to go into the PV ,the other amp or close to 2 amps will come off that battery. 3.7 volts with a 1.6 ohm atty will draw 2.31 amps. This design might also cause a problem when you first hook it on the charger and the battery protection kicked in. IF you vape more amps then the charger can put in you will be tripping the protection with every vape but the charger will kick it back out of protection mode. So in theory you can drain the cell to a damaging low voltage. Probably only something a heavy vapor user would have to worry about or if your using really small cells. So it will work but in my opinion the design is not the greatest.

Thanks Java, the battery is a 17670 and I designed this as a rechargeable box mod, not a PT. I just wanted to know
if, worst case scenario, could it be vaped on while charging.

"This design might also cause a problem when you first hook it on the charger and the battery protection kicked in."
Are you saying this in regards to using this as a PT while the battery is still low? Or, that the design is bad for a
rechargeable box mod?

Also, I was originally was going to cannibalize an old style ( hockey puck ) 510 charger but it was only rated
3.7V / 480 mAmps. So I am going to use an ego usb charger with a 5V / 2Amp usb AC adapter.
Is there anything in the charging circuit to limit the amps coming from the wall wart?

I just meant the design was not the best for vaping while charging when the battery is at a low voltage.

A ego charger is rated at 410mA @ 4.2 volts output and has a input rating of 5 volts 500mA. So 5 volts 2 amps is more then enough and is not going to charge the battery any faster then a 5 volt 500mA adapter. Because the adapter is rated at 2 amps doesnt mean that when you plug it in thats what it will put out. Resistance in the circuit or ohms law dictates that. For an example i am sitting here vaping off this passthrough right now. i am powering it off a 12 volt 6 amp adapter it goes into a regulator thats dropping the voltage to 4.8. When i hit the power button i am drawing around 800mA off the adapter. So just because it is rated @ 6 amps doesnt mean thats what it is going to put out when using it. It is more of a max output rating of the adapter. Putting a ego charger with a 5 volt 2 amp adapter should result in the Ac adapter putting out around 500mA not 2 amps.
