So your lead wires are boiling the tank juice? Have you checked for any high resistance at the solder joint?

I havent kept up with the store bought stuff since I have only used my homemade atty for the past couple years...so I cant visualize your setup...but they all work on pretty much the same principal. I know some liquids just turn dark faster than others too.

. I don't think it's boiling the juice, just localized heating next to the SS posts, which most likely leads to 'premature aging' of the juice. After a couple of hundred ~2sec hits of localized heating over the course of a day, all of the juice in the clearo has been exposed to high temps. And with no seals in the clearo, any well oxygenated condensation is going right back into the juice, making it well oxygenated - heat +O2 = aged colored juice.

These are CE2 clearomizers in which the wires have been replaced with either 27 gauge SS tubing or 24 gauge SS wire. The SS posts run up into the ceramic cup through the wire holes and are bent over the edge of the cup to form hooks to attach your coil to.

I see...yeah you have to find a way to keep the two chambers separated so that stuff doesnt make it back to the tank. Like zoid said..SS shouldnt be causing any issues at all...hell I'm still using "forbidden" brass rods and it never causes any problems. Another thing that helps reduce condensation...well on mine anyway...is to have a heat resistant tube right at the coil pulling the vapor out before it gets a chance to cool in the chamber.

I'm not gonna really pursue rebuilding CE2s at the moment. Started this thread to see about the safeness of heat shrink in juice for possible use in the CE2s; but have since gotten into a few co-ops for rebuildable atties.
Got a ScubaGen Mini, a couple of SmokTech rebuildable Vivi tanks, and a rebuildable dripping atty on the way.

Post a pic of the CE2 in a bit.

Good idea going with the rebuildables. I still have like 8 boxes of CE2 cartos..I think they were the 3.75 version..who knows. I was going to save them for parts but I ditched that design..and connector type...and never looked back. I still have 510 atomizers too...remember those!! Maybe they all will end up in a museum one day!!

As far as the heat shrink tubing...I used it once with the CE2's and once to cover exposed rods in a tank...both times I could taste it. It was the regular Polyolefin type for electronics. I prefer silicone or teflon tubing on the mods I have made.
