I have twice written long posts that were lost because when I attempted to post them, I am suddenly logged out. All that work lost. I can't backspace, it's all lost. Is there some time out feature that automatically logs one out when they may spend a long time formulating a reply in a thread?

Do I have to use MS Word and then copy it here because of some forum time limit control? This is... to be polite, aggravating. Very aggravating for someone who went from 2 1/2 packs a day to zero in his 4th day. :-x

As a side note... other than this annoyance, why is it this site requires me to log in every time I return? Is this some sort of spamming defense? Grrr....

I know form many other MB's about this, but for wahtever reason, I don't see that option here. There is no "remember me" box when I log on.

Try not logging in and going to any thread. Try and reply to thread and a login box will come up that will include the remember me box. I know that there is an easier way to get to it but this may be a temporary fix until someone with more knowledge stops by to help. I know its aggravating.

It's right under where you put your u.n. and password--just click on 'remember me' and a box is checked....and then sign in.

Forget the "remember me" issue. Why the H does the site log one out when they are actively typing in a repond mode? You sign in, you decide to post something that might be meaningful, spend time doing a little research, and you HAD BETTER remember to copy it before you hit preview post. Or an hours worth of your time will go into the internet black hole, lost forever.

In two words... FIX IT! Dammit. Very aggravating. Can you tell I'm on my 4th day of no analogs?

Fix it.

TIA. :sneaky:

shh--- just do what they said --- shh

I have gone back a page when I first started here to recover the lost data. But now I just do what the previous posters said ---shh , you'll get through this, we all have. You can do it, the vaping works. Pretty soon that nasty edge will be gone.

Coming up on ten months for me after 40+ years.

Go for it.

Hey NoMatches -- until the real help arrives, I did a little investigating and here's what I found.

This "code" is copied from ECF via view page source :<div id="remember" class="remember">

<label for="cb_cookieuser_navbar"><input type="checkbox" name="cookieuser" value="1" id="cb_cookieuser_navbar" class="cb_cookieuser_navbar" accesskey="c" tabindex="103" /> Remember Me?</label>
</div>

I don't generally use IE, well hardly at all. It would seem to me the remember me box isn't showing up because of a cookie issue. Check how you are controlling cookies with IE or any additional software, perhaps you can fix the problem yourself.

The remember me box shows up for me in IE8 with the global privacy setting at medium.

There's also the option at the privacy tab to control cookies on a per site basis.

I had fun checking it out , good luck.

Answer 1: Fix your version of Internet Exploder by updating it, and setting the cookie management / security options correctly.

Answer 2: If you can't fix your version of Internet Exploder, get a real browser like Opera or Firefox.

Is this a new feature? It has been happening to me only for the last two days. I am currently using the Opera browser and have made no changes on my end.

Have you tried clearing cookies and cache, then selecting remember me on login?

Good going on Day 4, NoMatches! It's a major step, I DO know! :)

I had a similar thing happen on postings. Also, I like to use tabbed browsing and lose my log in that way. I saw your post and I read the helpful responses from these nice, more senior members. I had to log out to find it, but before you log in, it's a white box right under the box where you enter your User ID. I made a screen shot, but don't know how to paste it here. Just check the box and THEN enter your User ID, etc. (I say this because the little "remember me" box is NOT there AFTER you log in. I had to log out and back in 3 times before I remembered to check the box!). Good luck!

Wow. In just the short time I fussed around to find this thing, and post it, SO many other responses were on this thread! LOOK at how many answers came in! What a clever and caring bunch of Vapor folk! I hope all these tips on different browsers fit the bill for anyone who needs to know. I got all warm/fuzzy just reading all of your posts. :)
