Going to try my hand at DIY juices. I started out using 510T's for vaping, but taking the good advise found here, I have made the switch to DC cartos. So I need to get into dripping to test out my concoctions.

I won't be using the 510 tanks anymore. Is the 510T atty with the wick removed as good as a 510 drip atty?

My mail carrier is getting fatigued , so if possible I'd like to avoid ordering some dripping atty's for now.

My mail carrier must think I am crazy. I swear at least one package per day (shapaholic)

The 510-T attys are not designed for dripping or carts. I would get a normal 510 atty for dripping (standard resistance because you have slim batteries, not LR, so 2.5 ohm to 3.0 ohm is OK). I think somebody said you can drip on the T ones if you remove the spike plate? but i do not use them and am not really suggesting that unless someone verifies.

And don't drip if you have auto batteries. Dripping is only recommended for manuals (510 manuals are sealed metal on the threaded end). And if you ever buy any other 510 or 510 threaded non-T batteries do not charge them on the 510-T charging cable (it can kill other 510 batteries as in fried dangerous mess)

Do you plan to try cartomizers? That is what most people use and the most popular are Boge. Slim 510 would use standard resistance. And I use thin juices -2 0% or less VG, and I avoid juices that seem to drop a lot of flavoring sediment.

Thanks so much for your response dormouse.

About a month in and have been on a steep learning and spending curve.

I'm using eGo mega's with Smoke Tech DC LR cartos as my daily PV. Probably stick mainly with cartos.

I did just remove the wicks on 2 of my 510T attys, dry burned em, and have em in the ultra sonic cleaner as I type. I'll buy a couple dripping attys if I need to, just hoping to make use of these to sample my DIY flavors.

Started out with Njoy from the gas station>510T mins>510megas>eGo mega, half dozen or so different cartomizers, 2 of which I haven't tried yet. 20-30 different juices...now waiting on my DIY gear this week! Bought 500 ml of 100mg nic juice plus VG and PG to dilute. Would you say I'm hooked on vaping? LOL

Wife has adopted the 510 megas, and uses LR cartos. They have been fine for her...so far!

The Flavourart Pomegranate flavoring is a nice strong flavor. I got some of the flavoring at Liberty-Flights.com after trying the FreedomSmokeUSA Pomegranate juice. Doesn't taste quite like pomegranate (not really as acidic) but it's nice. I bought the strawberry too. Package smelled so good haha.

I also picked up Capella Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble flavor at Capella (after accidentally ordering Vaporbomb juice by the same name in the ugh reverse of the PG/VG I use in cartos (I bought 80VG/20PG instead of 80PG/20VG)

Perfumer's Apprentice site is a good place to shop for flavors. They have ALL of their flavors and state which are for food and cosmetic use only (contain certain custard notes which are not safe to vape).

I must have 100 flavors and still have not made a single juice haha.

Glad the LR cartos are hot hurting the slim batteries. They are supposed to be only for batteries 450mah+.

I love 510 mega xl manuals.

As a matter of fact I am direct dripping with a LR 510-T atty right now. With the wick plate removed it is one of the best dripping atties out there. (have been using the same two 510-T atties now for over 3 months with just normal cleaning)
Some will not like them because there is only one vent hole in the base instead of two, but the draw fits my stile of vaping to a T (pun intended).

Why wouldn't this be a natural for dripping!?!

Words of warning: The sweeter heavier juices that were good in the T tank tast like crap. The juices that seemed like they had no taste in the T tank are the cat-sas.

Thought about doing this to a couple 510T attys! Bought a few, and hated them! Tried yankin on the spike with some needlenose. Didnt work. How on earth do you get the spike and plate out?

Looks like I'm in business then. Ripped the guts out of a regular and a LR, got them all cleaned up, and ready for use.

Good to hear that these will be good for dripping.

Getting the spike and wick out turned out to be easy. Just use a small bladed screwdriver and pry in the gap between the spike plate and the shell. Pops right out.

BTW, with the wick plate removed, I could see why these were no longer performing. Coils were all gunked up, but after dry burning and several trips into the ultra sonic cleaner. they look and blow clean as a whistle.

How do you use these to drip? I have removed the plate from mine, and cleaned the coil completey. The problem I have is that when I drop 2 or 3 drops, and try to haul it, it is very gurggly, and I don't get much vapor at all from these. Am I doing something wrong?

That doesn't make a lick of sense. With just two drops that atty would still be to dry.
After mine have spent enough time in the vodka to be good and drunk I prime them with 6 drops. After that when they tell me that it is time to drip they get 5 drops. When they start to gurgle it simply means that there is to much condensation under the drip shield.

That right there could be the problem then. I do not have a drip shield, nor do I know what they are. So what would be the complete setup you would use? The battery, atty with plate removed, and drip tip?

First another thought for your problem; make sure that the ceramic cup is all the way down in the tube.
If you look at the pic, there is enough of the inner tube above the ceramic cup for the wick plate to seat.

I use them on either an eGo bat or a Silver Bullet mod. So a pretty strate forward setup.
This is the drip shield I use on both.

can someone explain this for dummies? I have a t-rex with atty and cart. I thought you just put your juice in the spongey part of the cart. am I supposed to drip into the atty instead/also? How does that not wreck it

also- why do cartos have to be completely dry before you use them, but attys don't

I'm pretty new to all this too, but dripping is just an alternative to using a cart. Some people will not use a cart, but a drip tip instead. With a drip tip, you simply drop a few drops of liquid on your atomizer, and vape away. The flavour is supposed to be better from what I've heard, and you do not need to worry about wicking issues. I currently only have a 510 tank system, but will be receiving an ego in the mail any day now, with a drip tip. Can't wait to try dripping. The finickiness of the tank is driving me crazy.
