Is it safe to use any USB wall adapter? Can I just use the adapter from my cell phone or iPod? I've been using a generic USB wall adapter that I bought from Walmart a few years back. It's got two USB ports on it. I don't even remember why I bought it for anymore. It's just been sitting around collecting dust, so I thought I'd get some use out of it. But should I be concerned with harming my PV batteries? I have some KR808D and 510 batteries, and I've charged both kind off of my generic wall adapter. Wasn't sure if it was really necessary to buy a special adapter to charge my batteries on. If it is dangerous to use any adapter, do I need to buy one for my KR808s and one for my 510s? Or would any PV USB wall adapter be fine for both kind of batteries?

NOTE: I was about to post this is the New Members section....but apparently I'm no longer I new member. I've reached enough posts to be called a "Full Member". I think I'll celebrate by trying out my new 5V 510 mod kit I just finished putting together.....oh wait, I forgot to order batteries for it! :(

The adapter will be fine if it's already worked for the 510's and 808's. It'll work with eGo's, etc, it just will be slower than one designed for higher output - maybe overnight vs. 3-4 hours. The only risk is if you have a high output charger designed for ego's (350mah output or more), it might be too much for the littler guys.

Ok thanks for the info. I thought the adapter would charge faster than my PC's usb ports. It usually takes longer to charge my phone or iPod on my computer then it does from the wall adapter.

Somewhere on the adapter it should have the amperage. A single 2 amp adapter will charge any bat that I know of. I wouldn't plug it directly into a pc. Not all pc USB ports are strong enough. For a few bucks a wallwart costs it is not worth risk of blowing your computer even if does do the job.

Are you talking about using "any USB wall adapter" as a power source for your ecig charger?

For standard KR and 510 batteries the chargers output about ~150mA (that is to the battery). Any 5VDC adapter that provides more than that will work fine to power the charger. The Joye eGo chargers output about 420mA. The AC adapters that Joye supplies output ~500mA. Going higher will not hasten the charging, as that is a function of the ecig charger, not the AC power supply feeding it.

Basically, yes. I have a ton of various USB wall adapters from old cell phones, iPod, whatever. I just have a bunch of them laying around. So I didn't order any wall adapters for my PVs. I just have the USB part for the PVs. Got a couple KR808Ds and 510s. I've been charging them off some old USB wall adapters I have. Mainly, I've been using some generic one I bought years ago. It's just a plain generic "universal" USB wall adapter, with 2 USB ports. So I charge 2 batteries on that charger at the same time. Judging by the comments I've received so far, I assume that this is ok. I just wanted to make sure it was okay to do that. Didn't want to kill my batteries just because I was too cheap to spend a couple extra bucks to order an adapter with my batteries.

Merry Christmas
