I have made one order with fast tech with no problem and had my order in about 3 weeks but I tried to order again the other day and got an email the next day saying they needed me to take a pic of the front of my card and upload it to them claiming it was to protect their customers. I have never had anyone do this before just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before

I have seen reports of this. My credit card was hijacked a year or so ago, with an international charge. Since then, my bank does not accept card purchases on international orders unless you are there. The photocopy is to prove that you are there, which you aren't. The best workaround for this is https://www.paypal.com It provides an extra layer of security, and will also improve your verified status.

they are now claiming it is to prove I own the card but all it will prove is I have the card still does not prove I am the owner it is just too strange they said not to take a pic of the back where the security code is but that is only 3 numbers anyway alot easier to guess than the 16 on the front

I am a regular user and forums reader at FT, and have NEVER seen any posts or heard of any requests that FT have any customer take a picture of their credit card...I wouldn't do it...sounds suspicious and not normal for FT to even ask that...use paypal

I know it is crazy here is a copy of the last email I got from them

Your order was cancelled without charge, your bank will release you the money soon.

We have dropped the transaction and your bank may drop the authorization within some day. You can check with them for the exact date when the amount will be credited on your card.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know.

I ordered twice from ST (SlowTech) and each time it's less than $20. They arrived in 2 to 3 weeks without asking me for credit card photo.

The third time I ordered around $100 with a new credit card, and I got an email asking me to upload my card image to their website. They opened a ticket which I had to reply with the photo. I did that, and they closed it.

After they closed the ticket, my credit card image is still there! They never deleted it! What's worse is that they told me they didn't have one of the items, and eventually I canceled my order.

Yesterday I made an order for less than $120 with the same credit card, and this morning I got an email asking me for credit card image again in a new ticket.

This is what I responded and I am now waiting for them to get back to me.

"Hello,

I have ordered something else before and uploaded my credit card image to fasttech. The ticket number was XYZ (https://support.fasttech.com/ticket/XYZ). Now if you take a look at that ticket, my credit card photos are still there. Here's one of them, ttps://support.fasttech.com/ticket/attachment?blah.blah.blah

That is a big security risk to your customers like me. Even though the ticket was closed but my credit card information is still at the fasttech website, and it seems like permenantly. All it takes is some hackers hack into your database, fetch the customers' credit photos in the closed tickets, and the customers' billing addresses from the database, and they are on their way to abuse the credit cards. Even though they don't have the credit card's three-digit security codes, they can randomly guess and have a success rate of 1 in 1000. But since you guys keep so many photos there, they will be able to use at least some of them.

Now, please tell me the fasttech's policy in protecting customers' credit card info, or if there's none? Do you guys ever delete the tickets that have customers' credit card information?

Next, what is the amount limit that doesn't require customers to upload their credit card images? If every freaking time I have to upload my photo for the purchase of $100 dollarish, not only it's inconvenient for me, but it's a big risk for me as well.

Please let me know so that I can feel safe and convenient to shop at fasttech.

Thank you.
"

I will follow up when I get replies from them.

Here's what I got from them.

"I am sorry that our bank has already completed the verification before, please ignore the last message, your order has been resumed.

For the security of the credit card information, you can refer to this: Is my credit card information secure?: FastTech - Gadgets and Electronics - Worldwide Free Shipping

Actually our bank will select some transactions to verify and investigate every day, there is no amount limit."

And here's what I replied.

"Thank you for your response. However, please address my concern about my credit card photos still being stored at your web site. When will you delete my credit card images? If fasttech doesn't have such a procedure to do so, please discuss with your supervisor to establish such follow-up to ensure the safety of your customers. Please get back with me, thank you."

Stay tuned.

Here's what they responded.

"I am sorry that our system don't allow us to delete any attachment, but please rest assured that our system is safe and the picture of your credit card won't be released."

Guess what? I am gonna request a new credit card with different number, go to the hacker forums, and let them know the fasttech policy, lol.
