Post moved on me.
My thinking is there are a couple of carriers that will handle e-packet HKP and China Post I believe.
China post is not one for decent updating. I used this service exclusively with Vapor Break. Neither VB not China Post were to my liking and I moved on.
fasttech switched one order to CP on me during the customs issues. Had I known, I would have changed it. Never tracked until it hit my State Distribution center - the night before delivery. Even USPS Failed on that one.

my rule of thumb...once shipped by FT and if no acceptance from shipper within 10 days, open a ticket...if no movement in tracker at any point for 12 days, open a ticket...if not in the USA within 30 days, open a Paypal dispute even though U do have 45 days to do so..all orders usually arrive 12-25 days from FT shipping..

Sine last March over 1 year ago now, my FT experiences have all been good and I have received all my orders to my door within 30 days except for one in Dec that did take 56 days (which is EXTREMELY rare and uncommon), which I did receive a full refund from Paypal but when I did receive the order 56 days later (shipped USPS First Class Singapore Post).. I did make special arrangements to pay FT again for that order which I finally received....

Now I will only use Registered Airmail Singapore Post for liquids and ego batts...Malayasian Post for lithium batts, and USPS epacket China Post for non prohibited items..

BTW..USPS epacket China Post recent order.....15 calendar days total (11 Business days) with shipper from China to my Florida door

5 March..order requested and purchased from FT
7 March..FT shipped to China Post (Shenzhen China)

10 March..."Acceptance" at China Post in Shenzhen China...stuck there for 10 days and no movement
24 March....appeared and "processed" suddenly at Tampa USPS sort facility (skipped US Customs and other scans)
25 March..delivered to my Florida door

Primarily I wanted to know at what point in time (after an order is sent for shipping) is it appropriate or customary to contact fast tech - just to cover the odd event that an order might be lost - so as not to lose the right to have it possibly replaced or else request a Paypal refund ?

To the first q': Yes, it is quite appropiate to contact them and they will reply corteously and with some more detailed info, usually in good English. I'd suggest a week after ordering is more than prudent unless there's some special situation showing on the order page. i.e. I ordered a mod, a cable and a pair of ceramic heath-resistant tweezers which are backordered. The first two are "packaged and ready to ship" but the tweezers are expected to restock today and ship on April 2nd. I've been debating wether to cancel them and get the rest shipped or wait the extra days. Today I decided that in the end it won't make any difference.

To the second: PayPal suggest getting in touch with the vendor on the 30th day mark after payment if the package hasn't shipped and try to work things out and with them before the 45th day and place a ticket.

AFAIK, FastTech honors lost parcels, although I couldn't say how long before they consider the package as lost.

Officially with FT , a package is "lost" once U open a ticket and request an "inquiry" be done to the shipper, and FT actually requests an investigation to the shipper....the shipper then has 8 weeks to investigate and confirm the lost...at that point FT then will declare a package as lost..

so basically its lost after 8 weeks and confirmation is received as lost, once FT initiates an investigation to the shipper based upon your "ticket" to customer service at FT..
