Using MVP2 as OHM reader

I have been using my MVP2 as my ohm reader, probably just because I am lazy and cheap, and I just recently bought my first rebuildable. But in reality, is this a sufficient OHM reader?

As long as you're not pushing your battery to the limits you should be fine. I wouldn't count on it to be super accurate lower than 1 ohm.

Are you going to be using the rebuildable on the MPV2? You know you have to stay above 1.3 ohms - give or take a bit - with an MVP. It's not built for lower resistance than that. It will automatically either roll back wattage or just shut down if you try to push builds lower. Some people do get away with 1.1 ohm coils on an MVP BUT: it's not built for that. Even if you got an MVP that is working with a 1.1 ohm coil, that doesn't mean you aren't risking frying the electronics or the wires to the 510 connector. An MVP isn't a sub ohm toy.

So, if you are building for the MVP and are going to stay above it's limitations, then the ohm checker built into the thing will be fine.

If you are planning on doing 0.4 ohm builds for a mechanical and using the MVP to check the resistance - I wouldn't trust the accuracy of the thing below one ohm.

^^^^ What they all said. I like my builds about 1.7-1.9 ohms, and I use my MVP or VV3 (and they usually ring out the same on either device) Don't have anything on which to sub-ohm, so I feel comfortable with my reader for now.

my MVP reads 0.1 off compared to my stand-alone, so if your going super sub-low it could make a big diff....invest in an ohm meter or a DMM, or both.

I started out doing the same. The mvp rounds up when it reads ohm's. 0.85 will read as 0.9. Just buy a ohm reader, you will need it .
