I play a lot of golf and then spend some time at the club house and got tired of dealing w the batteries on my 808 setup. Some last longer than others. Since I'm always in a golf cart when I play, I started looking for a battery w usb connector so I could use my pass through, which I prefer over the batteries. I found this one:

Amazon.com: i.Sound Portable Power Max 8,000 mAh for iPod, iPad, iPad2, iPhone, Droid, and Blackberry: MP3 Players & Accessories

I actually got the larger isound portable power unit and this has worked out great! Stick the battery in the parcel shelf on the cart or just lay it on the bar and vape away w/o any battery worries. A charge lasts for days and it has the advantage that I can use it to charge my iphone if needed or any other usb chargable device. I take a bit of ribbing from my partners and it generates a lot of questions but it works for me....I just tell them its a hookah! Thought I'd share this fwiw.

This is the only unit I've tried and I've had it about 1 month, so far so good but if I run into problems I'll post again. Now all I have to do is find a usb passthrough that uses decent quality wire. As I posted in another thread, the ones I've bought from v4l are very fragile. They could perhaps use a cheaper and more brittle wire, but it would involve an extensive search on their part :). I'd love to see an american mfg come up w a unit that is a bit more robust...hell, the incremental cost to use a better wire and/or some better strain reliefs has got to be minimal and I know I'd be at the front of the line to buy one.

I used a camera cable, $14 at walmart and it seemed to rock. The ones that came with my passthru was weak

The wires that come with passthroughs are so thin because it just has wires for power through the USB, the cable for the camera has the same wires for the power, but also all the other lines for data transfer. It's not that the cables that come with passthroughs are "cheap" they just dont have the unneeded wires

Agreed, but being so weak I was breaking them and replacing them. Have had a camera one for 4 months now and no problems. For me the extra strength was worth it. Sick of buying cables
