After years of on line orders, I have found a few postal hubs that I call black holes. Stuff goes in and takes forever to come out.
First that comes to mind, is:
City Of Industry, Ca. Anything that comes through there takes forever and a day to come out and start moving.
The other is:
Texas: Not as bad as CA, but still quite slow.

I am trying to keep this to U.S. hubs, as I could go on forever about Japanese, and Canadian shipments.

Anyone else have USPS black holes they can steer our orders away from?

Coppell,Tx - It may have improved with the recent USPS software upgrade. Amazon is shipping through Coppell which must place a tremendous burden on the postal employees.

North Houston Sorting Center - 3-4 day hold. Last order was 1 day faster. All of my non-local mail goes through there since USPS closed the smaller "less efficient" sorting centers. grrrr

Chicago, Il - 4 days at the post office, then the blizzard hit. Can't fault them for an additional 4 day delay due to the blizzard.

Warrendale,Pa - Iffy. Acceptable most times. Occasional 3-4 day holding. I once had a package there for 2 weeks. No one noticed.

All mail from CA to my part of Texas has been slow for over 30 years. Yet, mail from WA and OR is reasonably fast.

There is another place, in MI, that I can't think of.

Unless we want to pay postal rates that are comparable to Europe I do not expect the situation to improve. The USPS is the only entity that is required by Federal legislation to pay retirement benefits into a fund for 75 years in advance.

ETA: I'm voting for drones. I live in the boonies. Just hover and drop it.

Never had any problems with Japan and since I used to live there I order stuff from Japan all the time. But US to Japan was always a problem, would sit in new york for days but i'd always get it within 1 day of it arriving in Japan. Germany is terrible though. Stuff would sit there for weeks, even if you're just shipping within in the EU.

USPS Nationwide #1 Black hole - Capitol Heights Md.
Must just be your packages.

All mine come through Capitol heights and they pretty much have a flawless record here.

Then again my post office and mail lady are the most efficient I've ever seen. Good chance that has something to do with it.

If you google Richmond, CA USPS complaints...it's been going on for while...it's the black hole, Bermuda Triangle, and then some . I had my share of issues with them also.

I've had priority mail get stuck there, RAGE!!! minimum 2 weeks.

basically it's the slow boat loading location. they load packages into containers and only ship them when the container is full.

I've grown to hate the USPS. Usually, they ship packages and letters and they arrive at their destination. Sometimes, they won't. Sometimes, when you get a returned package and try to correct the error on site, the postal workers will shush you and proceed to "fix" it themselves, which may or may not result in the package never finding its destination and get slightly aggressive and snatch that $@%# away when you voice your concerns. This was an international package. They've lost a few letters, too. For anything important, I refuse to use them.
