USPS grinding my gears

Had vape mail on the way yesterday. Tracked it like a hawk while I was at work. USPS said it was out for delivery yesterday morning.
Got home. No vape mail. I didn't know if I should cry or rip the mail box out of the ground. Left my dog out today when I left for work.
Moral of the story. Do not mess with my vape mail.

Have you checked the tracking to see if it now says delivered? The same thing happened to me, it said out for delivery and when I got home there was nothing Then I went online and it still said out for delivery even though post office hours were over with. It did arrive the next day. I don't know what happened but I guess my mailman must have not carried it with him that day or something. Very frustrating, I know!

you're not the only one, has happened on two previous orders this past month and a current one... My kidney puncher order stopped tracking on the 30th, says scheduled delivery of 2 Dec, and nothing so far.

There are many reasons why USPS is going bankrupt... bad/inefficient/lazy/ineffectual service is among them.

The USPS is pretty much a crap shoot.... I don't put a lot of stock into their tracking system either. On days I've had more than one package due, I've often received the package first that said it arrived at the local post office after the first one did..... Go figure.....

Do a bit of reading around. The Postal Service is doing fine, except for a pesky bill passed by Congress a few years back that requires them to fund in advance their pension obligations for 20 years. When you've got to pay 20 years of retirement benefits up front, money suddenly gets scarce. That's an artificial crisis, just like the social security shortages.

As for my personal experience with USPS, I've never had an issue. My packages arrive on time and in good condition.

I've watched UPS drivers kick boxes around in their truck, trying to find the right box to grab. I once watched one kick an HD TV off the back of the truck...

I'll take my chances with USPS.

In my experiences, United States Post Office tracking is pointless. Completely meaningless to me, and, obviously to them.

Out for delivery generally means nothing here. Even Amazon has started using something called surepost, where they "deliver" it to the area post office where it sits for a few more days, then gets labeled out for delivery again, only for the package to arrive via USPS two days later. Ugh!!! Had a fellow Vaper client of mine hounding reception for two days over vape mail he was expecting. He was completely out of juice. Very ad planning. I hooked him up with a number to Henley's Vaporium, who delivers anywhere in NYC same day for an additional $15, and filled his tank one of my bottles.

No call 1800 ask usps ask for the # for the Consumer Affairs office for your region, call and open a case with them.
They will hunt it down for you.

I had a package that left Fl for In, it went to outside Detroit MI, then south to 2 different sorts in PR where it sat. They tracked it down and got it headed back to me.

Don't feel bad, I have one package that was due for delivery today from Honilulu, HI. Was scheduled as USPS 3-Day Priority Mail, yet it's not here. According to the tracking information, it's still "in the air" and hasn't even made it to Tennessee yet, even though other packages from the area have had no issues making it here in 2-3 days max.

Their site basically says not to bother contacting them until a Priority Mail package has not be delivered for 5 days straight, so if it's not here by tomorrow or Friday then I'll be getting in touch with them as it's close to $100.

Skepis, I see your here in PR. I have constant problems with USPS (Cupey post office is particularly bad). One of the things that I have learned after several complaints is that all mail coming into the island goes through the Cataño sorting facility. This facility is notoriously bad. I spoke to a postal supervisor recently who was expecting an iPad in the mail--it got lost in the Cataño facility until she personally went there to find it! Obviously, us average Joes can't do that.

I would begin by filing a complaint on USPS.com. I would then go to your post office and demand to speak with a supervisor.

The problem with USPS tracking is that it's not "live." The handheld units that they use most often don't immediately update. That's why there can be hours between something happening and it appearing on the tracking information.

More than once I've complained to USPS about this. It's absurd that in the 21st century the technology is so far behind.

Totally not sarcasm. The vast amount of misinformation about the social security system is staggering. Most people just spout out how awful it is because they heard it on the news or read it online. This isn't the place to get into it, but it's a always a nice surprise to see people out there who actually use that thing between their ears.
