So, Steve, Mark, the company I work for uses FedEx exclusively for shipping... Now, mind you, we're a massive company that ships thousands of packages a day so I'm sure we get a cut rate, but FedEx offers a ton of delivery options and they pick packages up at the door whenever you call them for a pickup. I can't speak for everyone, but if you were willing to look in to shipping this way I would be happy to pay extra for shipping ... Anything to keep it out of the hands of government employees!

I personally find USPS to be very efficient as far as delivering packages are concerned, but horrible as far as updating the status of those packages are concerned. I generally get my USPS orders in 3-4 days, whereas (IIRC) you must pay extra with others for a delivery that quick.

The last time that I got an order I, just for grins, checked the status on their website. It said that it was at the sorting facility in Chicago.
I GOT MY ORDER!!!! Either it didn't actually go to LA or they fixed it really fast! yay!!! TY for the new pink xl (RIP blue xl). VERY HAPPY!

I hope that I can celebrate like that later today. I check my order and it says that it's still in Chicago (as it has been for 2 days), but we all know how accurate their tracking is.
I placed an order Saturday night. It shipped Monday & arrived today! 
Haven't opened it yet. I'm practicing a little delayed gratification until I get some stuff cleaned up around here.

I get my package before tracking says its left Chicago....tracking has only worked the first couple of times I ordered....never since.
Not a huge deal, since I always get my stuff fast, but it seems like a pointless perk of shipping.

I don't mind the tracking so much, it's not really designed for tracking anyway via priority mail, just delivery confirmation... The thing that kills me is the mail service around here, I couldn't tell you how many times something (not just V4L stuff) has indicated that it's out for delivery and for whatever reason i get no mail that day. And if it's raining out, you can just forget it... even though the V4L packages, along with most of those my wife orders from e-bay, will fit just fine in our mailbox.
Now that I think on it, though, I think FedEx requires items be in either letter mailers or boxes, neither of which would really work with the packing material the V4L guys like to use, that would be kind of a detractor.

Investigation into 'what happened' came up with
"The relief/substitue for the relief/substitute (read that as someone who has no clue... and is filling in for the regular substitute as both regular delivery person AND substitute are on vacation)
says he remembered delivering your package.
Yes, it was scanned - and he either left it in your mailbox or at your door (even Fedex/UPS doesn't know where my door is)
so we have decided that since it was delivered (though we have no idea to what address or location) it was stolen from wherever we delivered it to.

Luckily I've never had a problem. I'd have to say if all vendors gave choices I'd definitely take FedEx over USPS but either of those over UPS.
