Hello everyone!

Couple of weeks ago I was about to purchase eSmoke starter kit.
Fortunately found this forum and, after some research, decided to go with V4L and their manual 808-D1 Vapor King.

I haven't switched from analogs yet, but on average smoke only 5-6 (instead of 18-20) real cigarettes per day.

Question:
Since my initial research on electronic cigarettes, I'm under impression that 1 cartomizer equals to about 20 cigarettes.
In my experience, I'm getting about 5-6 "cigarettes" (15 puffs each) from one cartomizer (most of them Dunhall-8) and than comes that burnt taste with throat irritation. Still lots of vapor but test/irritation make it not possible to continue usage.
So far I buy only prefilled carts - guess quality must be better comparing to "home filled" ones.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there way to improve my experience?
Should I get different carts or from another supplier?

Any suggestions from experienced people are welcome.

P.S. Over all my experience with V4L is absolutely positive: quality long lasting batteries work great + easy to make online orders and fast shipping.

The "whole pack of cigarettes" claim is bogus. Whether they're claiming it about cartomizers, carts, battery life, doesn't matter - always bogus. You can get all-day (or several day) battery life, but only with big batteries or mods. There is no such thing as a standard cig-like battery, carto, or cart that lasts a whole pack of cigarettes.

But pretty much all of the manufacturers claim that. And unfortunately, it's very misleading.

You're not doing anything wrong. The burnt taste is from the cartos getting too dry, and beginning to singe.

And to be honest, for me, the cartomizers that this happens the quickest with have always been V4L standard pre-filled cartomizers. It's better with their Cool Carts and Premiums - but for some reason I always have more issues, sooner, with their standard pre-filled ones.

You should be refilling them before you get that burnt taste. By the time it tastes burnt, the damage is already being done, and it will permanently compromise the performance and taste of the carto.

You will learn how to detect it sooner. Any drop-off in flavor or vapor production, at all, means it's time to refill. Don't wait for it to taste burnt.

As far as which is better, pre-filled or blanks... personally, I prefer blanks. But this is because I often don't like the juice in pre-filled. I do tend to find pre-filled cartos last a little longer. Not sure why this is.

I have had very good luck with CigEasy cartos, and VaporNine cartos. Those are my faves. Although V4L Cool Carts are also good.

I don't like their standard cartos at all, though. And the generic cartos are cheaper, but a bit hit-or-miss with quality. Some are great... some aren't.

to get the MOST out of prefilled cartos, use one for a bit, then another, and rotate them, so that the liquid has time to "wick" into the atomizer. Always stand them on a table with the mouth end up.

It is ALWAYS better to buy blanks and fill them yourself. I find that 1 drop of juice is equal to about 3-5 drags. I can get a whole cigarette worth from 5-6 drops. I drip when at home with Joye 302 attys and use KR808 cartos when I am out. The coolcarts hold about 30 drops, so about 8-10 cigs worth. I find that prefilled cartos last for half that.

They seem to dry out and end up with this cardboard burnt taste.

For me it was best to just get empty carts or clean the ones you have and just get juice and you always have a fresh cart with less waste.

I think its possible to get a 'pack' out of a cart. Ive noticed that I smoke differently now. You dont light your eCig and it doesnt burn away when you set it down. I have tried to work out a way to simulate the time and puffs it takes to suck down a real cig. I end up vaping way more than I should.

I didn't know I have to clean up carts before re-using them.

How it's possible to do anything with carts for 808-D1 without braking them?

If there is a special topic about how to clean up and refill 808-D1 carts - please let me know.

------------------------------------------

Found two nice tutorials on youtube, search for:

1. How-to guide to refilling KR808D-1 or Vapor King cartomizers

2. REFILLING NEBULA / VAPORKING / ANY KR808D-1CART "dripping"

-------------------------------------------

About my impression about 1 carto = 1 pack.

"One Nicotine Water Vapor cartridge equals the enjoyment of two packs of cigarettes."
electronicciqarette

1 Cartridge = aprox. 30 cigarettes
esmoke

Each cartridge is comparable to at least 1 pack of tobacco cigarettes
greensmoke

Just one of these tiny Cartridges contains enough solution to Cigarti smoke the equivalent of 2 packs of tobacco cigarettes
cigarti

))
Each carto advertised to be equal to at least one pack, some times up to 2 packs...
No wonder I'm getting disappointed for getting burnt taste after 5 smokes.

You can find many videos on YouTube of exactly how to do it. I boil them for about 5 min then use a $2 medicine syringe.. the ones that you use to give babies liquid meds.. to suck and blow boiling water through them. Let them dry which seems to take a day or to and away you go. be sure to use purified water though.. First time I used tap water and the cards had a watery chlorine taste..

There is actually a YouTube video doing this exact process. Search for a video by VapeWithPuff called "How to Clean E-cigarette Cartomizers (KR808D-1 Compatible)" it uses a turkey injector but the baby med syringe and it are the same just smaller.

Mistressnomad has pretty much nailed it. I went the same route as you and didnt have much sucess with the prefilled cartos.

Buy the premium or coolcart blanks (soft tops make for easy filling), get some sample juices from various sources and find one you like.

This will greatly enhance your vaping experience..also suggest you get yourself some manual xl batteries from v4life.

Good luck:)

Yesterday ordered juices for $55 from V4L, cant wait to get my hands on them.

Does XL change anything, isn't it only about longer battery life?

Heard somewhere that USB pass gets better experience. Is it correct? How?

I will no longer order v4l carts. I just dont like them. Mint Julip and Pina Colada
basically taste the same. The sent me a box of pineapple and the whole box was
was dried out and produced no vapor at all. The Mango was OK, the cappacino was OK
too, but neither were great.

Basically I retired the cartomizer all together and have been direct dripping lately
with a 901 atty and a drip tip. I tried to use the 901 cartridge but I kept getting the
the burnt taste of the atty not getting contact with any juice. hopefully I can figure out
whats wrong there.

It does extend the battery life, your correct. Other advantages are that no primer puff is required like for auto batteries.

However a major advantage is that the manual batteries are sealed at the top so if you are topping up your cartos there is no danger of the juice passing through and damaging your battery if you flood the carto.

I also feel imo that i get a slightly better burn with them also giving me more vape and flavour.

The passthrough is good also. I think it uses 5v therefore better vape and flavour. I stand to be corrected.

Hope this helps. Keep checking the forum:)
