Just a suggestion to the V4L webmaster...

Please consider installing an email auto-responder. The message should say something like 'your mail has been received and will be read as soon as possible, yadda, yadda, yadda'. I have seen in other threads where people are saying their emails aren't being read, replied to, or acted upon. I personally have used the customer service email address 3 times in the past 5 months or so and never got a reply either. I give V4L the benefit of the doubt that they were not received, but have been forced to use ECF PM system in the past....which I know you guys dont like.

The auto responder will let people know their mails have gone through and they won't have to wonder if they got lost or snagged by an over-zealous spam filter. Further, many people simply don't believe it when a business says we never got the mail since some unscrupulous ones use that excuse for sleeping at the switch. With auto-responder, customers will be confident in the truthful reply of "we never got it". It's a confidence builder. Just like order confirmation and shipping notices.

With so much spam out there...email services are struggling and blocking ALOT of real mail. Yahoo has blocked my entire domain because they flagged my forum newsletter as bulk (spam) email and there is no talking reason to them....so it happens that emails simply get lost, and this results in misunderstandings or false accusations.

Thank you for the reply Steve. I received my product today, so I am not worried any more about my particular problem. YOU ARE SUPER!! I hope you will be able to solve your problems, as I know what it is like being short-handed. Hey Steve..."This too shall pass". I love your company, and I am not going anywhere. Thank you, again, for the reply!

I am very sad that valerie has left us, and I am going to try to help out on CS for a few days. But I'm having a slow start, and responses are going to be slower than usual for a couple of days. I really apologize for that. V4L is a family, and you answer messages from your family. But a family also suffers from a little disarray when a family member leaves. There's a hole that can't be replaced, only covered.

We will miss you Val, as I am sure you know.

I am working through the e-mails as fast as I can, and answering more of them every hour. I'm in it for the night, so I hope to get to you all. But some I will have to leave until tomorrow. I will try to leave you all a note at least.

Some ides for helpuful auto responses.

1. You are receiving this automatic notification because I am out of the office. If I was in, chances are you wouldn’t have received anything at all.

2. Sorry to have missed you, but I am at the doctor’s having my brain removed so I can be promoted to our management team.

3. I will be unable to delete all the unread, worthless emails you send me until I return from vacation on 4/18. Please be patient, and your mail will be deleted in the order it was received.

4. Thank you for your email. Your credit card has been charged $5.99 for the first 10 words and $1.99 for each additional word in your message.

5. The e-mail server is unable to verify your server connection and is unable to deliver this message. Please restart your computer and try sending again.

( The beauty of this is that when you return, you can see how many in-duh-viduals did this over and over.)

6. Thank you for your message, which has been added to a queuing system.
You are currently in 352nd place, and can expect to receive a reply in approximately 19 weeks.

7. Hi, I’m thinking about what you’ve just sent me. Please wait by your PC for my response.

8. I’ve run away to join a different circus.

9. I will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks for medical reasons. When I return, please refer to me as ” Sharon ” instead of “Steve”.
