Hi, welcome to the forum. Press the button for a second and then SLOWLY begin to take a looooong slowww even drag for about 4-5 seconds while keeping the button pressed. It's not the same action as smoking, but it's great and it does the trick. I personally like to mix it up like this:

*press button
*begin to drag on it
*force a bit of vapor out my nose (nose hit)
*keep dragging on it
*little puff out my nose
*dragging
*stop dragging -little nose puff - inhale

YUMMY!

Good luck with it, the technique is a bit different from smoking but most of us end up liking it better than smoking once we get the right combo of PV, juice and technique.

Lots of seasoned vapers here, just ask.:)

Yes, I keep the button pressed down the whole time. I think the idea is that if you press the button for too long it will stop on it's own--sort of like auto shut-off. I just tested mine and it let me drag for a count of 13 (no stop watch, just counting in my head) before the light went out and it stopped. Maybe it's to keep it from burning out the atty, or your jeans if it's in your pocket.

Well, eventually quitting is up to you, it's a personal choice. Nicotine on it's own is no worse for you than coffee and I don't plan to give either one up any time in the foreseeable future. The good news is that as long as e-cigarettes are still available, I don't have to make that choice. I feel like the pressure to quit is finally off; I can have my nicotine and the action of smoking without all the harmful chemicals and poisons that are inherent in cigarettes! Hooray!

and yea, I vape more than I smoked. And you probably will too, but you should let yourself do it at least for a little while. Remember, you are not only replacing the nicotine you got from smoking, you are also going to withdraw from all the other stuff they put in cigarettes, so it's not uncommon to vape a bit more until you no longer feel "the urge" to smoke.

Some of us vapers just go ahead and smoke anyway. Eventually, you'll get sick of how the cigarettes taste and not want them anymore anyway.
