So, the V4L headquarters is w/in reasonable driving distance for me, and they're where I've always gone for bats, cartos, juice, etc. When I smoked cigarettes, I smoked menthols, so V4L's Smilin Special menthol flavor was a natural fit. I love the flavor of those cartos, especially what I perceive as the "coffee" part. Unfortunately, when I moved on to tanks, I found that the flavor of the Smilin Special juice was pretty far from what I taste in the cartos. The juice is too sweet and overpoweringly minty. The coffee taste is barely recognizable, and disappears after a couple of puffs.
...which brings us to today. Am mainly puffing on V4L's 555 and Hilton, but I'm dying for that Smilin Special taste. I guess I'm not asking anyone to divulge trade secrets, but do any of you know a recipe that's as close as possible to the flavor of the Smilin Special carto? Or, perhaps there exists a combo of juices that yields a coffee-dominant menthol?
FWIW, I've already tried different concentrations of the Smilin juice mixed w/V4L's coffee, and they just end up tasting like mint syrup. Blech. Pass.
