That's one of several things I'm considering right now. I'm kind of waiting to see what the MRI shows. They tried to give me an MRI the other day, but it was pure agony trying to hold still. I have to wait to the 30th so the can do it under anesthesia.

10 years ago, my L5/S1 was nearly bone on bone, my L4/L5 had a major bulge (herniation) impinging on the nerve root. Since I couldn't do the MRI right away, they took an X-Ray, much less detail but it appears to be significantly worse. There were a few other damaged vertebrae at the time too, but they were mild.

I don't particularly want spinal surgery, but it may be my only option too.

I've got 2 words for you, inversion table. It's saved me on many occasions.

Welcome - Teeter

Ask your doctor first, it's slightly possible that it could make things worse.

Ray, my thoughts are with you right now!! *hugs*

My husband has had 3 back surgeries for ruptured discs in the past 8 years (he just turned 34 on Friday, to put things into perspective). His were also L4/L5 and L5/S1 issues, and with the most recent issues he also had to be admitted into the hospital for an anesthetized MRI. All of which is my long-winded way of saying I know all too well the pain you're going through right now. I wish you a quick diagnosis and speedy recovery, sir.

Thanks for the well wishes. Just out of curiosity, what was his recovery time like? I think I'm more nervous about being out of action for a long time than I am about actually going under the knife.

All three of his were microdiscectomies to remove debris of the ruptured disc that was rubbing on his sciatic nerve. When he work up from the anesthesia he could immediately tell the difference. Definitely needed to stay in bed for several days and needed help getting up from or down into a chair for a few weeks. Get a 4 prong cane, a walker, and a chair for the bathtub for the week or three after surgery. Hubs didn't want them (he got a walker for his 30th birthday, right between surgery 2 and 3) but they really make things easier, having that support for standing and sitting. After the first few days to a week you should be mostly comfortable when stationary with only itching at the incision site (unless you bump it; trust me, don't bump it).

You won't be up and literally running, but sitting work will be perfectly doable after a few days if you choose to do so. Dave was back on skates reffing 2 months after his 3rd surgery. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a pm!!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to send out an update on the status of the store closure.
I went for my MRI on Thursday and I have some follow up appointments next week to see what they found out and hopefully what treatment plan they have for me.

I had hoped to be opened by now, but things aren't progressing as well as I had hoped. My Son has had very little time to help me so far, so his training is nowhere near complete for him to start making tanks. He's a full time College Student and is taking summer courses and has a work/study program at the college as part of his scholarship.

To be quite honest I shudder to think what the wait times will be to process orders when I do re-open. I think it will be quite extensive and I may have to go back to frequent periodic shut downs to keep the wait times from getting totally ridiculous.

I'm still not able to work very much at all myself. My pain level is still pretty high and that alone makes it hard to focus, add the medications they have me on to that and I can accomplish very little on any given day. My wife actually saw me fall asleep walking across the living room the other day with my walker. Scared the cr*p out of her. LOL

I do have hopes of opening later this week, depending on what the Doctors have to say, Orders will be going out at a snails pace though I'm afraid. Just please keep that in mind when I do re-open.

Hey - "Ray" . . . What ever it takes, especially so "YOU" are better comes first and foremost in "My" book . . .

Matter of fact, I think "We" would rather that "You" be healthy and in much better condition then having You out of commission totally . . .

SO - Don't worry or concern yourself with "Us" right now, because I happen to know "We" All will be right here waiting and hoping for Ya' to have a well deserved rest and recovery . . .

Just Sayin' "MY" Friend (if I may call you that) . . . ;)

Hi Ray...hope you are starting to regain some strength...loved your falling asleep in the walker story..very funny!..when you're feeling crappy, humor does sometimes help.

question for you..I shattered my 7ml pyrex tank last week...the caps are still perfectly good..lol..but I was wondering how I might go about replacing the tube? I don't see (on the site) that you sell replacement tubes.

Thanks.
