So, a co-worker and I are allowed to vape in our cubicles at work and we both recently started using Vamos and we both really like them. Unfortunately the Vamos are quite noisy and while no-one has officialy complained I would like very much to not give them a reason at all.

His Vivi Nova is fairly quiet but we prefer carto-tanks for the most part. I've had some success using 808 cartos with an adapter...very quiet but the vaping experience isn't even close to using a native 510 carto.

Sooo...after discussing possible solutions I ran down to the hardware store, bought a couple of rubber washers, cut some v-notches and used them as gaskets between the tank and the Vamo. They work beautiful...no rattlesnake effect and no noisy airflow although we did notice that we may have to get some thinner gaskets for tanks with a recess for flanged cartos (I'm using a Phiniac with a flanged 510 carto and it fits perfect).

The washer is a 5/8 aerator washer from the Danco Company (stock no. 36169B).

Has anyone else come up with an effective Vamo muffler?

I have a vamo and unless I put the mouth tip to my ear I can't hear it. Then again you folks must be in a very quite room ( wishes I had that ).

LoL....

We try to keep the noise to a minimum and we're fortunate enough to be allowed to vape freely. We're a large company and I'm afraid one complaint to HR could spell our doom (except for stealth vaping of course)...lol.

It seems to have something to do with the airflow and possibly the driip well acting as an echo chamber of sorts. And it just seems to occur with single coil 510 carto/tanks. The Vivi Nova and 808 carts with an adaptor are quiet as a mouse. Dual coil cartos are also much quieter. My initial solution was some electrical tape with a couple of pinholes but I didn't feel like carrying a roll of electrical tape around in my vape kit...lol.

Noise level is determined by the atomizer you are using ... not really the pv itself.

Cartos are going to be louder because less juice is surrounding the coils which causes more cracking and hissing as the juice cools down the coil. You might beable to dull the noise by simply increasing the carto punch hole a smidge or adding another hole ... causing more juice and less heat over the coils.

Yeah, we experimented with that. The noise from the coil is masked as long as the drip tip is in your mouth. Most of the noise seems to come from air entering the carto. The carto is acting like a whistle resulting in a sharp hiss sound. I'm going to experiment with different cartos (flanged, unflanged, etc) to see if I can't find a quiet one which would remove the need for my incredibly practicle and ingenious muffler (now patented) for which I can only take half credit. Or maybe 60/40...70/30...yeah...70/30 credit sounds good.
