Vamo or SVD?

Searching around the forums a week ago I was finding the same things echo'd about the build quality of the SVD which led me to order it. I am still awaiting its arrival and I feel like I would prefer holding something built flush like the vamo but at the end of the day I had to listen to all of the build quality testimonies to make my decision. I am sure I will not regret it.

Hey Atx Cloud, gotta question for you. Is the Vamo far better than EGO Twist? I enjoy vaping with the EGO, but wanted something more hefty and robust. Does your battery on the Vamo last as long as the EGO? In your honest opinion, do you think I should upgrade to a Vamo? If so, why?

I'm pretty new to vaping and FAR from being an expert, but I'll take a stab at it. I have two Ego C-Twists (1000 mAH), a Smok Zmax 2, and a Vamo V3 on its way, so my answers will be based on what I've seen in a short time using what I have on hand, and my (hopefully) realistic expectations of the Vamo.

1. Is the Vamo better than the Ego Twist?

Having VV AND VW allows for more control. 3-15 watts, 3-6 volts gives me more options than 3.2-4.8 volts. I like that ability. YMMV. "Better" is subjective. To me, it's better, but some folks swear that Mechs and RBA's are the ONLY way to vape. I'm not at that stage yet.

2. Does the battery on the Vamo last as long as the EGO?

Again, this is my experience with the Zmax, and expectations of the Vamo. I'm using dual 18350's in my Zmax, and will use the same configuration in the Vamo. My Zmax will get me through about a day and a half or so, my EGO will get me through a 12-hour work day.

As to whether or not to upgrade, well, I'm not the one to ask. I'm an impulsive and irresponsible shopper, especially when it comes to a new hobby/interest, so I went a little nuts right off the bat. I'd say do it if you want to and if it's in your budget. From the reviews I've seen on the Vamo, it made me want to give it a try. Again, YMMV.

I DID order the stainless Vamo like others are suggesting based on some of the negatives I've seen written about the gunmetal finish, and I didn't want the chrome because I'd have to keep polishing the darn thing.

I don't have a vamo, but just received my SVD yesterday. For the price point (ordered from FT) it vastly exceeded my expectations. From a vape prodcution standpoint, they're basically identical, so it's really a matter of taste. Personally, I prefer the more industrial look of the SVD over the sleeker more modern look of the Vamo. But that's just the way my preferences lean.

I can vouch for the SVD being SOLID once assembled - it's kind of like a little baseball bat. No wiggling, jiggling, or loose fitting parts. Overall fit and finish is excellent. It's super easy to use, with all of the button combinations to change modes and whatnot being machined onto the device. The ONLY thing it took me a second to figure out was how to toggle the settings lock feature. Otherwise, it's pretty intuitive.

Under normal use, I don't think you would have to worry about accidentally changing settings, and there is always the lock function if it ends up being a problem.

Totally agreed

I've had zero problems with the Vamo V3, I will say the trade off here isn't so much build quality here as much as a balance between ease of use in the Vamo's three button setup to the SVD's less likelyhood of accidentally cranking the voltage/wattage too high while handling it.

Yes, the Vamo is far better than an eGo Twist. There seems to be a great difference in the vapor production and therefore flavor and satisfaction.

The battery (18650) lasts all day, whereas I was having to change batteries with the twist about every 6-8 hours. My Vamo came with a NiteCore i2 charger and two batteries, so I just keep one in the mod and the other charged. I also picked up a 18350 (short) battery to allow me to go into 'shorty-mode' on the Vamo

Yes, I believe you should upgrade, which model is up to you, but the quality of the vape is superior with a bigger battery. Just ask Badittude!

The real question in my mind is do I get the Vamo V3 in stainless for $33, or the Sigelei V5 in stainless for $50. All need batteries and chargers. If you want a telescoping mod, I recommend the Sigelei. Best APV under $100 imho. If you don't want or need telescoping, I would get the Vamo. Of the three, you won't go wrong. They all use the same chip, but the build quality is best in the Sigelei. I also like the one button Sigelei screen better than the Vamo or the SVD. Again, they are so close in almost every way, I think it comes down to the look and feel that you like and prefer. My two cents.

I have 2 Vamo V2, a Sigelei and an SID (Yes SID). While the single button on the Sigelei seems nice the two power control buttons on the Vamo make changing power a lot easier. My Sigelei also seems to be more sensitive to lower ohm atty's and will give me low ohm cut off and the Vamo not. I actually like the feel of the SID better than both of those but it is not a telescope and comes in two sizes 18650 and 18350. It feels felty to hold it and batteries seem to last longer in it. It's single button also.
Don't know too much about the SVD, but for the money Vamo's seems a pretty good bet between the four.

I have both a Vamo V2 and an SVD in the house. I personally prefer the SVD hands down but there are considerations. In the SVDs favor I would spend a long time typing so lets just go with the one potential downfall I have encountered. The SVD has had issues with some delivery systems and they worked just fine with the Vamo. This happens mostly with the KAnger Protank v.1 and the T3S. As far as I can tell tweaking the positive post on the clearo.tank abates this. In all other ways I have found teh SVD superior. It is telescoping not a set of tubes so battery sawaps are much less tiresome on the go. The abslolute single thing that sways me in practicle terms is the ability to remove the top collar on the SVD in order to fit larger diameter clearos that the Vamo requires an adapter for. This alos makes cleaning and maintenance much easier. I am not hard on my gear but in less than 4 months use the Vamo is showing thread wear issues while SVD is still just like new. Subjectively I would also say the SVD delivers a more consitant better vape, but that is purely an individual thing and they may seem the same to you. Issues aside either one make an excellent entry into vv/vw or a great additional device for the experienced vaper.
