I recently ordered a vamo v3 and was looking at batteries for it. I understand the 18650 and 18350 are supported. I happen to have a lot of tenergy rcr123a 750 mah batteries and was curious if they would work. Judging from pictures, they looks similar but I think they are protected and I need iwr / unprotected? Just confused and would appreciate any information.

Somewhat related, I use kanger protanks and these batteries with a prodigy v3 and 2.5 ohm coils but I get a bad taste and it burns my throat. Anyone know why that is happening? I'm guessing that maybe it is burning up the coil somehow. These are brand new coils. Anyways, this is why I ordered the Vamo and why I have so many of those batteries. Again, any info is appreciated. Thanks!

If my memory serves me correctly, those batteries have a higher starting voltage than a li ion battery. Not sure you wanna be using those.

Edit: I'm wrong....they start at 4.2v....but I have heard not to use them.

Just get some decent batteries.
I use Panasonic 18650 non protected in my vamo.
Also efest 18350.
Ideally, my whole battery fleet would be AW if I had the cash.
Steam Monkey has decent prices on batteries.

Hi, I have the Vamo V3 and I use the Panasonic CGR18650CH 2250mah. I am really not familiar with the tenergy rcr123a, so I can't advise you on that . I do know that you need an unprotected battery for the Vamo and the tenergy at 750 mah, if it did work in the Vamo, wouldn't last long between charges.

I also don't own a pro-tank, do you get a burnt taste or a plastic taste? Did you rinse out your tank before you used it the first time and have you cleaned it? Have you used the juice in another clearomizer and did it taste all right then and do you know the pg/vg and nic strength of your juice? Some people find pg irritating and higher nic levels can also be irritating. Sorry to ask so many questions but it will help everyone to narrow down what the problem might be. :)

Thanks for the replies. I've heard a lot about those Panasonic batteries. I will definitely pick some up. I will check out that site, thanks!

As for the problem with the prodigy, it is a burnt taste. I had problems with it now and again when I used cartomizers, but only when I would put fresh batteries in. I would have to take short puffs about 10 times to get the battery levels down a bit. Been vaping since 2009 and never had any problems with PG or VG mixes. I use an 80 / 20 mix (pg / VG), which is pretty standard. I use 36mg and cut it to 18mg using VG and about 10% distilled water. I didn't rinse the tank before the first time, but I have since and also used a new coil but same result.

Sorry it took me so long to reply back. The vamo should be here on Monday or so...First time using a variable voltage mod, so it should be interesting. I ordered from fasttech and it comes with 2 18350s, I think. Either of you familiar with the ones that come in that kit? Hopefully they are good enough to last a week or 2, while I order the Panasonic batteries, and won't blown up or anything. lol

I can not advise you regarding your vamo or batteries but if you would post in this Fasttech thread there are a couple of guys there that are really into the batteries and what to use. I also suggest you post a link to the actual device and batteries you purchased. There are many different kits for this available and the people will ask for that info. Hope this gets you the answer. If you search the thread you will find several battery discussions.
