I finally received my Vamo V3 from fasttech and, like I have read on these forums, the threading did not work well with my Protank 2 - it would screw on, but it wouldn't connect. So, I bought a 510 to eGo adapter and it works like a champ now, but it looks like a chump. Anyone have any advice on how to make my setup look better? lol... I tried to look for cones/collars but none worked with my setup :(

Thanks in advance!

I would get something like one of these and thread it onto the adapter. Don't know if they'll fit though. :(

WIDE eGo Cone Cover for DCTank

Duh. I'm sorry I assumed mistical had already tried this. Yeah I'd do that. :) Or..... buy another mod and use the VAMO as a voltmeter/ohm checker. :p

Rather than using an adapter just pull the center pin down in the protank. Your center pin is pushed up too far in protank

Not hating the VAMO, it's great. The VAMO is a great device to start with, it's relatively inexpensive even if you don't buy it from FastTech and it functions great. I've just been delving into mechanicals so my VAMO has become a battery/RDA checker haha. :)

Lol, I'm a nub, I know. As for the VAMO, don't hate! It's my first APV!

Im surprised the PT2 wont fire on the V3 mine work fine on it.

But as mentioned above, you can likely solve the problem without the adapter. Though the adapter will help preserve the threads if your constantly removing your tank.

Take off the PT2, remove the head, then using your fingernail, work the outter contact pin (see pic below) slightly out of the rubber grommet, taking care not to pull out or displace the grommet, just work the pin till it comes out a little.

Put the head back in the pt2 and look at the 510 connector, the head's pin should be protruding ever so slightly now, as opposed to even or slightly inset as usual.

When you screw the PT2 back on the vamo and seat it, it should adjust the pin to the proper height and it should fire.

I pulled the center pin down a bit and it still doesn't "connect" - i.e., lock in, when I screw it down, but it is at least not wobbling and it hits now. However, I have a collateral question now... would pulling the center pin down alter the taste of the vapor? Another noob question, but either pulling down on the center pin or getting the wick in the coil wet with water altered the taste of my juice, lol. I'm leaning towards the latter explanation, but I want to be sure ;)

Also, you should grab a protank beauty ring, as seen with this PT1:

Then you can install it on your vamo's ego threads, setting the outer (larger) lip just a hair higher than the top of your vamo's 510 connector (look across it) then when you tighten down the PT2 it will seat against the ring, and be stable and supported.
