I just picked up a vamo v5 and had two batteries given to me. Wondering which one is best to run. I heard its not good to run the ncr18650b? I was given that and a imr-18650. Any advice? Currently im running the imr.
many people seem to be running the b in regulated mods with no problem its a hybrid and a very good battery, like them for my mech.
personally I wouldnt run them in a reguulated mod as im kinda Leary of the 6.8 amp limit. so it will be your choice. on a side note they freaking last for days lol
Regulated mods like a Vamo use boost ciruitry to be able to use higher voltage than the battery voltage capacity (3.7 volts) via PWM (pulse width modulation). This circuitry works best with high drain batteries, which IMR and some hybrid batteries are.
Protected NCR/ICR li-ions will not have the above high drain ability that an IMR will have, so they are not recommended for optimal performance. Like Thrasher said, I would only use the Panasonic ncr18650b in a mechanical mod with commonly used cartomizers and clearomizers. Certainly not for high drain applications such as a mechanical using a Kick, an RBA/RDA, or a regulated mod.
