Just bought a Vamo V5 which I haven't received yet. I am needing to go ahead and get the batteries and charger, but since this is my first device other than vision spinners, I am totally confused on what is the best choice. I want to be sure to get ones that are safe and ones that function the best for the Vamo. Please help!

If you have a link to show them, that would be great too!

Hey guys.
So, I got a Vamo v5 too.
I don't have battery as well, so I have these batterys in my list:
- Samsung INR18650-25R 2500mAh
- Panasonic NCR18650B
- Sony VTC4
I know that the vtc4 is better for mechmods because it have 30 A, but idk, I will go with mechmods after (6 months probably) the vamo v6.

Also... i can only buy the batterys on kidneypunch, amazon or orbtronic web site. I am afraid of buying on amazong because I don't know if the batterts will be original...
Edit: orbtronic sells by amazon too, buy its more expenssive. Hell Idk what to do, haha.

Thanks guys!

The Panasonic NCR18650B is not a high-drain battery and only has a 6 amp limit. You don't want this one. Don't be fooled by the high mah rating - these are for flashlights.

You could choose either the Samsung or the Sony. Both are high-drain and high-amp IMR/hybrid batteries. The Samsung has more mah (2500) than the Sony (2100) and would be better for a regulated mod, and has adequate amps (20) for sub-ohm vaping. The Sony has less mah but more amps (30), and would be better suited for a mechanical mod doing sub-ohms.

Thanks for explaining about the Panasonic, mate. I am really new to vaping. My first kit will arrive soon, will be an evod with some ego batterys buy I got an vamo v5 too.

So, I don't plan to do sub-ohms at all. I plan to go down at max 0.9~0.8 ohms with mechanical mods. Also, I will buy a Nitecore i2 charger
Do you think that I will be ok with the Samsung if I use mechmods the way I said above?

Question: is the Sony VTC5 trustable? Some folks say that the vtc5 is not that good and have some behaviors, that Sony changed something in the chemestry/topology that afected the longevety of the battery.

Sorry about my english. Not my first language.
Sorry for the bothering, mate.

No bother, bro. I've not read of any change or issues with Sony batteries. In fact, for sub-ohmers the Sony batteries are probably top of the line. I use the SonyVTS4 2100mah 30 amp batteries myself in my Silver Bullets.

The Samsung is a great battery even though you don't hear much about it. A good all-purpose battery for both regulated and mech mods. It's 20 amp continuous discharge rate is good for sub ohms down to 0.4 ohms and have a little safety wiggle room.

I use the Nitecore i4 charger and my daughter uses the i2.

Do you mind to indicate some online store? I need purchase the Samsung this monday, because it need to arrive before July 11 in my aunt's house. I don't know any trustable online store since I am new to vaping and I don't know any trustable vendor on amazon as well. I live in Brazil, here ecigs are prohibed, so its really hard to find stuff... The places I found the batterys are super expensive, lika 30~40 dolars per battery.

Illumination Supply has them.

Dont know if they ship internationally but they have great prices and are a trusted source for authentic batteries.

I too am waiting for a Vamo v5 to show up (focal group buy). I want an 18350 instead of the 18650. I am looking at the efest red or purple version. Is there any advantage of having the purple version in the Vamo? The price difference is negligible, just thought I would ask. From what I read the button and flat tops will both work fine with this.

red Efest 18350 800mah 6.4Amps
purple Efest 18350 700mAh 10.5Amps

Probably the purple Efest is theoretically better for a regulated mod than the red, although either will work. Since a regulated mod uses PWM (pulse width modulation) to adjust to higher voltages, the more amps the battery has the better the mod will perform (to a point). The purple has 10.5 amps to the red's 6.4 amps. The 100mah extra that the red has over the purple would be negligible IMHO.

The below articles explain why adequate battery amps is important for pulse-generating regulated mods like the Vamo.

Why high drain batteries?

Question for the Tech Engineers

While my Vamo does not see regular, all day every day use, I can attest that the efest purple 18350 does indeed last as long as the Efest red 18350, even though the purple has 100mAh less capacity.

I believe this is because the purple Efest has lower internal resistance.

I wish I had a few AW 18350's to compare with the Efests but, alas, I bought a couple "AW" 18350's on the ever popular auction site and they are not legit (they also don't last even as long as a red Efest. Not even close actually).

Run time of the Vamo using 18350 batteries is dismal at higher wattage settings. Two to three hours, tops when set at 12 to 15 watts.

The 18350's make the Vamo nice and compact for use out and about but I would need to carry at least 4 spares for a typical work day of use. The Vamo in 18650 mode is huge compared to my other mods.

I would love to buy the parts to make it a "Mukey" ( $38.65 Vamo Mukey Double Barrel Variable Voltage/Wattage Mod / APV - 3V-6V / 3W-15W / black chromed brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping )

That seems like a perfect Vamo for me!

You could be right about the purple having lower resistance than the reds. However, having the extra amperage on hand probably helps save the battery life as they are not working as hard as the reds are at higher voltages.

I've actually compared genuine AW 18350 IMR's vs the red Efests. I used them in rotation together in alternate fashion, and for the first couple of weeks they were very comparable to each other. However, after that time the Efests began dropping their voltage pretty hard; probably lasting only 60% of what they were like when new. I grew frustrated with the Efests and dropped them from my rotation.

Can you post the link for the vamo you ordered?

Sometimes you get the plain vamo; sometimes you get the vamo with charger and batteries and even a clearo all as one kit.
