Vamo V5 issues - nothing but trouble!

Hi,

I bought the Vamo V5 about a month ago, and ever since I've not seemed to get on with it. Had horrible burnt tastes on the protank 2, which I was relieved to fix by switching I RMS (why doesn't it come in this mode?!), until soon enough the burning came back, so I've just resorted to vaping on about 6 watts.

I use both an Efest 18350 and an 18650, unprotected I believe.

My latest issue is with the power being all funny. It has started to become incredibly quiet when I press the button, you can barely hear the coil/liquid heating up. It starts louder, then goes silent after about 2 seconds of firing it, but still produces vapour, only it's incredibly burnt. I've cleaned the contacts and used different clearos (a Smoktech ARO and a T3S), but to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea as to what it might be? Any suggestions are more than welcome!

Also please let me know if I've missed out information that may help diagnose my issue!

Thanks a lot

Edit: missed this information; I believe it's definitely the Vamo and not the liquid, because the same liquid and clearos work fine on Ego batteries

I am vaping with the Vamo as well. i use voltage over wattage because it is easier for me. The only thing i can think of is maybe the coil for your protank is bad. I would recommend using the 2.0ohm with the vamo. The quiet when you hit it is not that big of deal it just means the wick in your coil is wet and primed. since you are using wattage i would also recommend starting out in a lower wattage and working your way up til you find the perfect number to stop on. I work at a Vape shop and there is normally a simple reason for things that are happening.

It just seems strange because I've been using it for a while, and it used to fire up fine and produce loads of vapour and a nice throat hit. I also replaced the coil but still had the same problem unfortunately, the same with the ARO I tried. Also the problem seems to be non existent on different mods and batteries. Thanks for your reply :)

    No you can't
Have you been checking the battery voltage.

After drawing right away check voltage see what it is on the Vamo, battery could be failing I just went through that.

Burnt is coil getting to hot maybe not enough of juice getting to the wick, first checkout the batteries than with a new coil start out at the lowest voltage setting and work you way up, if it starts to get burnt flavor back down quickly.

If your not getting enough of juice to the wick try a harder drawing.

Sorry should have mentioned, the head on this is 2.6 ohm (the ones that came with the PT, the ARO is 2.0 I think). I can't seem to go above 6.5 watts, but up until a couple of days ago it would happily sit at 8 watts. I tried checking the voltage, it seems the same immediately after drawing too, but the issue seems to be occurring on both batteries, and also all clearos I try at all different wattage/voltage.

I can remove the burnt taste by vaping at 6 watts, but then the draw is very strange, where the coil goes silent yet still produces some vapour, just not enough to get a good throat hit without drawing for about ten secs. I also sometimes get a strange issue with the protank, even with a new coil, it will fire up but produce no vapour whatsoever, but I think this is probably a protank issues as it happens on no other clearos or tanks.
    Thanks guys

I don't have a clue as to why Vamos ship in Mean Mode especially since they claim that Mean does not exist (RMS Only).

I have 4 vamos (2 v2, v3, v5), Sigelei Zmax, Evic, I use Protank or Puritank (bigger version of the PT). I've used 1.8 - 2.5 ohm atomizers and only on sparse occasions have I run wattages greater than 6 watts. In those occasions, I have been lazy about replacing the atomizer. My normal operation is 5.5 to 6.0 watts on the gear I've stated.

I often marvel at folks claiming to vape at 8-10 watts. Wondering what these folks know that I don't?

I'm using a Vamo V3 right now at 8 watts with a 1.8 ohm single bottom coil. You stated you add more juice when half full, is it possible the remaining juice in your tank has that burnt flavor in it? Have you tried cleaning your tank and coil with alcohol. every two weeks or sooner I swap out my coil and let the old one soak in vodka overnight. the next morning I swish it around dump the old vodka, add a little for a rinse swish again. remove the coil, wrap in a paper towel and let dry for at least two days. I try to time my tank to be very low when I rinse the coil. depending on whats in the tank pull it out with my syringe and rinse the tank with the rinse vodka. Dry out the tank with a cotton swab let it air dry for a few minutes replace the juice and vape away. if you are burning your coil and wick the flavor is most likely transferring to the liquid in the tank.

I believe the reason all of you have to keep watts/volts low is because your mods have pulse width modulation. I had a young Jun chrome vari for years and I couldn't go above 4.5 volts without getting nasty burnt flavor. 2 weeks ago I switched to a sigelei 20w and rebuildable atties and the difference is huuuuge. This mod has a steady output not pmw and depending on the juice I'm using I can vape at 16-18 watts and get no burnt flavor at all. My suggestion- ditch pulse width mods and learn how to use rbas, I don't think you'll regret it!
