Hello. I hope I'm posting this in the correct area. Please forgive me if I'm not. I own an authetic Vamo V5 and I love it! It works like a champ! My wife is always stealing it so I went on eBay to buy her one. Already bought mine there so I figured it would be ok. Hers arrived today and there are some serious differences between our two units. Mine has a low ohm limit of 1.2, hers is 1.3. Mine displays battery life from the lcd menu while hers displays current instead! When I built her matching kayfun to a 1.4 ohm single coil and tried to vape at 3.4 v with 6 w there's hardly any taste at all! Jump it up to 6.5 w and it scorches her mouth! There's a huge jump in those 5 w that I have NEVER seen in mine. Also, the internal volt meter on hers will read say 3 v while my eleaf voltmeter reads 1.5!!! Wth?!?! I rebuilt her coil twice just to make sure it wasn't me but I was already certain of this as a 1.4 ohm single coil is kinda hard to screw up! Same thing happens. Her unit drained my freshly charged mxjo 2500 mah AND a fully charged AW 2000 mah in merely a few minutes! I'm stumped! My question is: Did I buy a defective unit or just a clone or maybe a defective clone?? The listing stated it was authentic but the differences in operation and the issues I'm seeing make me doubt that. It was a USA seller however from previous communication, their English reminds me of communicating with the Chinese. I've demanded a refund but have yet to hear back. I expect to hear from them by tomorrow. Have any of you heard of this? Doesn't the Vamo V5 always have a display option for the battery life? This thing doesn't operate like my Vamo that's for sure. Any advice or explanations are appreciated. Thank you.

No such thing as a vamo knockoff really, but there are a million iterations of um.
Supposedly the original vamo was made by KSD way back, but its meaningless since they are all pretty much the same respectively, within the different version numbers.
There is one exception and i think that's what you're running into.
Relatively recently they completely changed the chip/display of the vamo's, adding the option to display the battery bar and few other tweeks. Sounds like yours has the more modern version of the chip and, for some reason, hers has the older version.
The wattage thing is weird though, try running it in voltage mode and see what the performance is like.

Does your wife's say Vamo on the screen when you first put a battery in it?

I've tried that. It is nominally better. But the difference in ohm limits really throws me also. Seriously, those 5watts are an INSANE difference!
If you go to fastech and search for vamo and then look at some of the discussions you will see that some of them do say "hello" when turning on. Don't think they are made by KSD. Maybe you got a bad one or something. Try contacting the seller and maybe get a replacement. Good Luck.
As twosmokes said, there is no such thing as a clone Vamo or an original. There are tens of factories in China making this mod under the Vamo name and it's pretty much a crapshoot as to which you get and how it vapes. Vamo is a generic name for a certain look of an APV now, not a specific model or manufacturer.
As for draining an 18650 in a few minutes - now that's a problem. Take it / send it back - that is not normal and potentially unsafe. I would stop using it immediately. Even at 20W with chain vaping, an 18650 should last longer than a few minutes.

Can't really help except to say I have a Vamo v5 it says hello system on when I switch it on. And hello system off when I switch off. Not had any problems with it, I love it.

Maybe your wife's is set in "mean" mode. Didn't you get an instruction manual with either yours or hers?
It's not when you switch it on and off. It's when you insert the battery
If you hold the 3 buttons down together for 5 sec it should have a Vamo registration number of "13461967"
You can change what is displayed on vamo's screen. You also can change it's mode of operation to RMS (recommended).

Thanks Alien Traveler. I tried that. Pressed the "-" for 10 seconds. Nothing. Held it for 20. Nothing. Tried the "+" also.... Again. Nothing. It's not draining the battery like it was but the wattage difference is still insane. I've demanded a full refund. Still... No response. If I don't hear back by end of day today I'm filing a case with ebay. I've gone ahead and ordered another from the guy I bought my first one from. Trying to save a few bucks bit me again. When will I learn? Lol
Yes I did. But it is less than helpful and doesn't address any trouble shooting issues. No indication of how to change the mode.

most of it is the cheapest product or factory defects they can buy
sold at or over premium quality prices.
your best bet is to order from fastech.
it takes a while for delivery but you will save money.

I have had some good experiences with ebay however. Like the guy from Florida I bought my first Vamo from. And for parts and pieces. I just should have stuck with the seller I knew gave me the product I was after. Tried to save some $'s. Lesson learned. I do want to order from fasttech though. Eyeballing some Orchid attys. how long does an order usually take?
I have purchased a Vamo5, 4 isticks, and a few tanks on ebay. Haven't had a problem with any of them. If you read the sellers feedback you can usually tell if they're good/bad seller.
I have ordered from fasttech as well. eLiquid and accessories. No problem with them either.
Hammerjagg..I have ordered from fasttech 3 times. Each took between 14-18 days.
If you file a claim with Ebay, you're liable to lose your money either way. They specifically prohibit E-cigs and their components from their website in their terms of service.
My advice is to steer clear from buying e-cig supplies on Ebay. You can almost always get similar pricing on genuine equipment from established online vendors. I just don't see the need of rolling the dice and using Ebay.
