I'm starting to notice something "weird" about my V6, and I was wondering if anyone else has come across this. I typically am running about a 1.8ohm coil on the V6, and every once in a while, I'll notice that the resistance spikes. I'll set the power anywhere from 9-11 watts, depending on how the tank is vaping. However, when the resistance "spikes", I'll get an incredibly harsh hit.

I notice that the watts remains the same, and the volts "recalculate" to correspond to the "new" resistance, but I really don't think my head is changing by as much as the reader is showing. So I'm throwing a bung-load more power on my coil than I really should be....

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this phenomenon?

by the way, the hit is NASTY

That doesn't sound right to me and my V6 gets as much use as any of my mods. The only thing I can think of is that something...probably the coil...isn't secure. I would make sure all the screws and connections are snug (not tight...just snug). If you are not using a rebuildable then the only other thing I can think of would be to clean and double check the contacts...like the center pin. Hope something in this helps.

Does your V6 have an adjustable 510? If so wind it out till your atty is proud then wind it back enough for it to sit flush as this might just be a connection problem. I'm taking it your using cleoros not anything rebuildable. Never overtighten your atty though. If yours isn't adjustable you could try pulling the center pin up a little to see if that works better.
Does this problem show when using different atties? If so ignore above and I'm stumped GL.

Yeah - wondered about the coils. I'm using mostly PT2s with airflow controller. I'm not sure if it's a newly built coil or merely a dry-burned/rewicked one. I'll pull the tank apart (after I finish my DIY Snickerdoodle!) and check to make sure the coil hasn't shifted or the insulator isn't damaged. I'd hate to think it's the V6 - I'm REALLY liking it.

Thank you, sir, for your advice :)

Norrin, Wheelie, you guys snuck in on me while I was replying to wshanncap :)

Yes, I do have the adjustable 510. I do rebuild my PT2 heads - I think I've even noticed on my Nautis. I'll loosen the pin a bit and see if that helps. I try to just "snug" the tank, and not over-tighten, but sometimes the tank seems "wobbly", so I'll give it another "snug". (Also, I use the airflow controllers for my PT2s - I've fiddled a bit with that pin too.)

Thanks guys!

P.S. - Wheelie - sorry to hear about your V6's demise :(

I have an iClear 30 that I never used until today. I checked the resistance with the MVPv2 and the Vamo v6 and they both said 2.7 ohms. I thought boy that is high for an iClear (it was free with the MVP and no mention of ohms). I fired it up and it changed to 2.1 ohms on both. I dunno know if it is common for a heater(s) to change ohms after the first time firing up or not? I've never heard of such a thing, but I don't know why it did that either?

Consider yourself lucky. Mine was not even fifteen minutes old and it tipped over on the coffee table and worked no more. In my pile of old and broken bin now.

More to this story or you don't understand DOA warranties much. A call/email to the Vender and get it replaced. Don't mention the fall.........Unless there is a Big old dent from the Balcony to table height.
