Vamo v7 being weird

I'm having problems with my vamo and its being extremely temperamental in regards to its connection with my orchid rba.

Before I continue, I will mention that I am using a 510/ego adaptor in between the connection so I don't feel that the problem is with my vamos flathead adjustable centrepin (although it could be and that's part of the reason I'm posting).
About 2 days ago this started happening. If I screw my orchid to the point where it cannot go any further it will read "without atomiser" (this never used to happen before) and if I unscrew the orchid just a little it will read "atomiser connect" however the ohms readings jump around like crazy. Occasionally it will read the correct resistance of .5 and I can vape away without a problem but it just happens again after a short while.
This is extremely problematic as my Vamo v7 40w can only be used in VW mode.

Another thing that might be worth noting is that I dropped my vamo about 40cm onto hardwood floor a few days back but I've heard many stories of people having dropped their vamo several times without any issues?!

Right after posting this I took out the adaptor and orchid, made the contact pin on the vamo a bit higher and screwed them both back in and voilà, it's reading a stable .5ohms again.

However I know this will only be temporary and soon the readings will start flying around again. Begging for some help please, and thank you in advance!!

Ive had a vamo v6 for quite some time and its now my wifes go to device as ive graduated to my Sigelei 150 some time ago for deep sub ohm builds. Shes dropped that thing plenty of times and it still works great. However that problem ive had since day 1. I used to just unscrew the atomizer a bit til it reads, more than likely due to too much pressure on the center pin. However if its ohm reading is jumping around like crazy it might be the combined problem of your tanks center pin and the vamo's both being a bit off. Try a different atty on there to see if it does the same thing. If it doesnt, then theres your problem. If it still does it then your vamo mightve gotten a little screwed.

Oh and Collintrouble, I tested that by connecting my EMOW tank last night but that uses the ego threads so I'm not sure if that will work for troubleshooting this haha. I also have a Vivi nova that uses the ego threads but I need to file down the damn thing because it doesn't allow the coil to make connection -__-

another thing about Vamos ( the 3 for sure) the insulator in the 510 connector is a soft rubber that will rot when exposed to too much juice over a couple of months... and older Vamos had brass 510 threads which wore out in a few months too... atty would get wiggly...

The newer vamos no longer have that problem! My v7 has an insulator where the centrepin rises from but it doesn't make contact with it and also the centrepin is adjustable via flathead ^_^ in either case I bought a pack of o-rings when this was being shipped to me but I was delightfully surprised that I wouldn't need em haha

Well since you just learned about the orchids center pin adjustment then youve probably solved the problem lol. That makes a big difference when reading ohms. Just like if you forget to tighten a screw on your rda and try and get a reading, it jumps all over the place. Glad to hear your problems probably fixed though, while ive graduated to big boy regulated mods the vamo V3 was my first mod and i remember it fondly and my wife adores her v6.

What are these big boy mods you speak of

And yeah thanks a bunch man!! No longer getting the "without atomiser" message when I screw it down tight so I think it's almost safe to say you've fixed my problem :D Now only time will tell if it's COMPLETELY safe to say so.

Gosh I love this forum lol.

On a side note - those paid off politicians/"scientists" who have been knowingly bad mouthing e-cigs with incorrect data are soon going to be dealing with the cold hard hand of justice :D

Lol by big boy mods i mean super high wattage devices that can handle ridiculously low sub ohm coil builds. Ive got the 180 watt God Mod, the 165 watt (after firmware update) IPV3, and the Sigelei 150. My fave being the Sigelei as its super easy to work with and i typically dont need to go above 120-130 watts. Im running dual zipper coils in my Sigelei at 0.19Ω at around 90 watts right now and its smooth and tasty while putting out clouds that completely obscure my face and body from view, lol
