Sounds like what happened to my Zmax. The threads aren't stripped, I believe they are just out of spec. When heads are screwed down, there is a slight side to side wobble, not a free wobble, but the atty will not be straight up and down. If I unscrew it a bit, straighten it up, then tighten it back down it will be straight.
So it could just be threads that are too loose, even a combination of that AND slightly out of spec connectors on whatever heads you are using. I've noticed that some heads won't get good airflow or seat well with my Zmax with the threading issue, while others will work much better.
You say it feels soft... it could be that the center pin of either your Vamo, or the heads you are using, is sticking out too much, and not allowing you to screw it down all the way. This would make the connection high-centered, as the connection would be resting on the center pin, instead of the top of the female connection resting firmly against the outer ring of the male 510 connection, as it should.
If you do bend anything, I'd advise against using something IN the connector, and would opt instead for something that goes AROUND the connector. A piece of pipe that is the proper diameter to fit inside the ego well, and small enough inner diameter to fit firmly around the ego connector. Reason being that I believe the threads are made of brass, which could deform and get damaged quite easily by sticking a steel bolt or some other harder metal in there, and then applying tons of pressure to bend it. I'm not saying it WILL damage the threads to do so, just that in my opinion it would be much safer (albeit a bit more difficult) to find some sort of pipe that would fit around the entire connector post, and bend it that way.
