Hello,
Hope you are doing well today! Today’s review is going to be all about the Jackaroo Dual, a dual 18650-mod made by Vandy vape. What makes this a special mod is that it has IP67 rating, similar to the well-known Aegis Legend/X.

Have to be honest by saying that the first one I received had a software issue and I was not able to use it. It had some issue with recognizing my batteries. Tried searching on the internet about this issue but could not find anything. Guess I was unlucky. Still sourcemore and Vandy Vape both were very responsive in solving the issue.
Special thanks to Sourcemore for sending me this kit for the purpose of the review, at the end of this review I have a special discount code allowing you to get this mod for 44$.
Specifications:

Packaging:
1 x JACKAROO DUAL 18650 MOD
2 x Instruction Manual
1 x Warranty Card
1 x QC USB Cable
1 x Proper User Guidance

Review:
For me the mod looks very nice. The black frame surrounding the panels is coated with silicon giving it a very nice grip just as the textured designed on the back. Downside of silicone is that it is a magnet to dust and hair. Also, the main body (under the silicone coating/panels) is made from magnesium-alloy making it very light for a IP67 rated mod. Panels feel proper and are properly installed onto the mod, I just wished they were either a bit thinner or more imbedded into the mod as they are sticking out quite a bit. It simply lays very nicely in the hands and is not heavy (**g) nor big. Compared to the Aegis Legend it has the same length, but the Jackaroo Dual is thinner both ways.

Only branding on the side of the mod is a tiny bar flowing from the silicon edge into the panel, it says Vandy Vape. On the bottom of the device, on the battery door, you will find some additional information ‘Designed and manufactured by Vandy Vape’ and a small symbol ‘IP67’. On the top there is 12 tiny battery venting holes and next to it is written ‘JACKAROO’. So, no extreme branding on this one, which I like.

Battery door feels quite solid for its type. It is easy to open and close, just pull back the lever and it pops open and push it down to close it. Battery indication is written inside the mod and on the door. It is properly sealed with O-rings to assure its IP67 rating. No weird sounds nor rattling coming from the battery compartment when shaking.

On top you will find a spring loaded gold-plated 510-pin. You can put up to a 27mm tank on top of this mod without having any overhang, enough for most mainstream tanks. See below picture where I have the Arbiter 28mm RTA installed (review to come).

A very nice, big and clicky fire-button, can’t miss that one. Also, the up and down button click nicely and react well. None of these buttons is rattling when shaking the mod. I am not much bothered by the fact it has micro-usb instead of USB-C, because I don’t charge my batteries inside the mod and do firmware upgrades through the app, I do know it can bother some of you. What surprises me is that it is IP67 rated, but the USB-port is not covered with a plug. I tested the waterproofness of the device and dropped it into a jar of water for 15 minutes and it worked fine, just make sure to properly dry the USB-port before plugging in a cable.

Best thing with Vandy Vape mods is always to be found inside the mod, the chip, I love it. It is pretty much the same thing going on as on the Swell, Gaur-21 and Pulse V2. The same menu and so on, will get into that soon. Just like the Swell it fires up to 188W and on the Vandy Vape chip it still does not round-robin. It scrolls quickly in 1W increments.
One thing I don’t understand is why they have chosen for a different UI on the Jackaroo Dual. The one on the other devices with a similar chip look so much nicer. Not a fan of the 3 colors options that basically fill the background with that color, it just does not look well in my opinion. Still the screen is large and bright enough to easily read what needs to be read.
If it is about functionality, it is exactly the same, so I just copy and paste it here from my previous Gaur-21 review. The only difference I could find is the puff counter, on the Jackaroo dual it maxes out on 99.999 while on the other devices at 999.999.
Best thing about the chip for me is that you have the possibility to mark/unmark the vaping modes you use, I don’t use TC, so I unmark it and whenever I am scrolling through the modes it just does not show on there, very nice.

There is lots of things going on inside the device, by holding the up and down button you get into this menu with quite some options. You can adjust brightness, change hibernate timing, reset puff counter, change between 3 color UI’s, see the version and serial number, receive a QR code to download the app and finally reset the device. Very nice to have so much control over a device.
Clicking the fire-button three times on the main screen allows the user to scroll between the different modes (which the user has selected in the settings menu), VW, TC, Bypass and so on. Click the fire-button 4 times brings you into a selection list where you can select preset vaping curve types, for example Normal, S, H, DHL, MTL and App (which means app-controlled curve).
Just like on the Swell, Pulse V2 and Gaur-21 you can connect it to the app and control it from your phone, nice addition, not a necessity in my opinion.

Conclusion:
My favorite IP67 rated box-mod so far, I prefer this one above the Aegis X and Legend, and here is why;
- Light-weight and small
- Ergonomically shaped
- Proper buttons
- Proper battery door
- Looks great
- Lovely chipset
- Large and clear scree
- Replaceable side panels
There are only two tiny minor complaints I have about this mod;
- UI does not look as good as similar chip devices
- Side panels could have been thinner/imbedded more
If you are looking for a device that can take a beating, then this is at this moment probably your best choice, it simply works as it should work.
Once again, a special thanks to Sourcemore for sending me this kit. With discount code JACK you are able to get your Jackaroo dual through their website for 43,99$(Free shipping worldwide): Vandy Vape Jackaroo Dual 18650 Mod 188W
