Hello again and welcome back for today's review of the next evolution of the Jackaroo Mod with this offering being a dual 18650, and another change is in the material that the device is made of. Anyone that owned the original Jackaroo knows the one big downside of it, and it was the weight of the device that stopped a lot of people from carrying the device outside and away from the desk or table. Well Vandy Vape solved this problem by using a magnesium - aluminum alloy to construct the Jackaroo Dual and has 2 18650 batteries to get the job done just fine. As always let's take a look at some of the features that are offered with the Jackaroo Dual 18650 mod and then I'll give my findings and thoughts of it later on in the review, Here is the Jackaroo Dual 18650 Mod.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
The Jackaroo Dual came in a standard package having a outer sleeve with the main box sliding out and inside that box is the device laying in a form fitted foam with the charge cord next to it in a rectangular box, all paper materials are underneath at the bottom.
I was sent the blue porcelain one for review and that's what really caught my eye first, the blue color is in a swirl pattern mixed with some white color. I don't think that the porcelain models are exact from device to device because the back colored porcelain panel has more white color in it.
This device is 100% Jackaroo and after picking it up I was very surprised at the weight difference from the original that I still use on occasion when at home. Being made of magnesium - aluminum alloy really makes a big difference from the original. Being a dual battery device I thought that it would be much larger than the original but that is not the case at all, I think that the impact resistant rubber that surrounds the device is the same as was used with the original, below is a comparison of both devices with the original being the Obsidian Black G10 Panel version.
Both have the same small piece of rubber that fits into the cutout of both front and back panels with one piece having the Vandy Vape branding stamped on it, very small branding.
I decided to use the Tank that came with the original Jackaroo for testing because it's a very good Tank with very good coils for flavor and it fit like it was made for it also.
The top of the device has some branding lightly etched into the top plate with a series of venting holes below the name, the 510 is not centered and is located above the fire button location.
The other side also has a porcelain panel and as you can see it looks totally different from the other panel which I don't really mind but it would be nice to have two exactly matched panels . You can change these panels by removing 4 screws that I think is a nice touch if you get tired of looking at them just change them instead of buying another device. I know that the original had custom panels that could be found on the internet but I don't know if any company makes them for the Dual.
The spine of the device remains the same as the original with it's familiar rubber ribs.
The bottom of the device is where the battery door is located, using the popular latch method as many manufactures use with dual battery devices. To open that latch door simply pull back on the latch which will then release the battery door. The door itself is hinged and seems very very well constructed, there is very little play in it and there is a arrow showing the direction to pull back to. One word of caution, when changing batteries and closing the door remember to pull back on the latch switch and also push down to make sure it latches securely.
Polarity is marked inside both battery tubes with a red + and a blue - symbol, there is also polarity markings on the battery door with a white + and a white - symbol as well. What I'm not happy seeing is the poor job of powder coating that was done around the battery tubes as this picture shows .
The front of the device remains the same as the original with all buttons being the same as the first edition and the USB remains the same also, no Type-C with the Dual. What has changed is the UI display and I'm not liking the color choices that you get, you have 3 choices being red, green and yellow. Even though the display looks somewhat dated I can live with that but these colors look like they were rushed, Vandy Vape could have done a better job with the display. The internals on the other hand work very well with a very fast response time and a clean signal at any wattage setting I tried. Information is laid out very well on the display.
Vandy Vape has a very nice option on the Dual that the original also has, it allows the user to prevent a function of the device from being viewed as well as disarming it from working . To give you a better idea of what I'm saying let me explain, I am a wattage only vaper and would never use temperature modes but going through the menu I will have to see them and then skip over them but Vandy Vapes gives the user a choice to not even see them in the menu saving some time, I wish other manufacturers had this deactivation feature.
To activate any feature simply highlight it and it will become active, to deactivate a feature you don't want to see or use simple unhighlight it and you will never see it in the menu when going through the many power modes of temperature control, bypass, as well as voltage mode.
The power menu is opened with 3 presses of the fire button, the power mode that your in begins flashing and to change modes use the up or down button to move from mode to mode and once your in your desired mode press the fire button to put you in that mode.
To get into your preheat modes press the fire button 4 times and use the up or down buttons to move to your desired preheat mode then press the fire button to exit the menu.
Holding down both the up and down buttons simultaneously opens up the main menu with your up and down buttons moving you along just like the other menus. This main menu contains your settings, hibernation time settings, brightness, puff counter clearer, color choices for your display screen, version of software, download app for your phone, factory reset and exit.
This is not the easiest menu system to navigate but it's really not that bad once you have gone through it a few times, there are actually 3 seperate menus in this device.
We still have a few button combinations to go over, of course 5 presses of the fire button turns the device on and off.
Pressing both the power and up button simultaneously locks the wattage, pressing both the fire and down simultaneously flips the display screen.
I know there is a lot of features with the Jackaroo Dual menus as well as button combinations to remember but you will pick it up fast. I hope that I haven't forgot anything else with the menus.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS
The final impression I have of the Jackaroo Dual is a good one because I think everything was changed from the original device that held it back and that was the weight. With the new Dual version being made from a much lighter alloy combination we get a lighter device with the benefit of having longer battery life with 2 18650's.
The new chipset works great, I never had any problems with the device firing or voltage sags and the menu may not be the easiest, it still gives the user so many options on how they want to use it. It's like that slogan ( HAVE IT YOUR WAY ).
My only complaint is with the display color choices but after using the device for some time now I've grown to accept it, I can't let a perfectly functioning device get a bad rap just for bad color choices.
I still use the original and will keep the Jackaroo dual out and in play for some time to come. I haven't touched on battery life yet am I can tell you battery management is very good. As far as TC modes go I can't say anything good or bad about them because I vape in wattage only.
So in closing I am happy with the Jackaroo Duals performance and menu as well as having a App now for finding your mod by using your phone if it gets misplaced somewhere. This happens to me all the time when reviewing many devices , it's a great feature to have on a device.
I would like to thank Lilia and Sourcemore for providing the Jackaroo Dual for the purpose of this review and I hope this review helped anyone looking to purchase this tough as nails device.
