Hi guys

I've been using the vandy vape pulse 80w with a 20700 battery (external charging) for about three months now without any complaints. As atomizer i use the profile rda with a single .71 ohms clapton coil.

Right now i'm on holiday and didn't bring my external charger so i"m charging my mod with a simple micro usb cable and a power brick that outputs 2 Amps. I do know that is a little much for a mod so i'm only charging it for maximum 20minutes at a time because the mod does get quite hot around the up/down buttons while charging (it also gets hot when i used a 0.5amps output at home).

So today the mod just suddenly broke while charging. The display doesnt show anything and it doesn't fire, i tried any button combination, charging again, taking the battery and rda out and putting back in, but nothing happens.

The only sign of life i get is when i insert the usb cable, the mod gets hot just like when it was working.

So i believe some part of the chip is fried/melted/got loose. Did anyone else experience this or know what i could do?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your troubles.
If it was me, I would swap in a fresh, known good battery and see what happens.
Do you have another battery with you?
Is there a vape shop in the area where you are vacationing?
Did you bring a back-up device to help prevent you from smoking cigarettes again?

Cheers
I

No, i haven't brought any other battery, there are also no vape shops in the area (Side, Turkey) and i have no backup device either :(.

But i have no problems smoking cigarettes for a few days and then switching back to vaping, ive done that before but i'm really hoping my mod isnt actually broken because 4 months ago i bought the vandy vape pulse dual and after 3 days i had to return if due to 510 leaking.

Charging inside the mod puts stress on the mod, and can cause issues over time as you are experiencing. Sadly, this usually causes the board to fail rendering the mod useless. A different battery is not likely to fix anything, as even without a battery in the mod, plugging it in makes the screen turn on. But it is worth a shot I guess.

Also, using a high Amp power brick does not hurt anything. The mod will only pull what it needs from the brick, the brick doesn't force the amps into the mod. Usually it is worse to use a brick rated too low, in my experience at least. If your mod is rated at two amps, it will still try to pull those two amps from a 0.5a brick and never reach the amp level it expects to reach.
