Hey Vaper peeps,

I joined to give my input to some of the threads running about PG and flu etc.

I've only just started serious vaping, as those e-cig things were not cool. Having some serious mods on the market made me switch, plus I was getting chesty, coughy and my serious ... smoking mother-in-law got LC. So it was give up or find something more healthy.

So, here I am.

I started vaping just before New Year 2015, everyone was going down with the flu. I managed to avoid it somehow, though both my daughters, wife Dad and Mum caught it. When I brought myself the Itaste 134 I was in vaping heaven, two weeks later surrounded by zombie flu family members, I only got a sore throat. It was the longest sore throat I've ever had, and I kept saying to everyone, here we go.....it's sofa time (Godfather 1,2,3).

The flu never kicked in. Weird. I have never ever had a sore throat last for a week, while all around are bed bound. Guess have to wait till next time.

I should note that, due to vaping and I've done a bit of googling, I never knew that nicotine protects against Ulcer Colitis, so not sure I'll be dropping the nic content too low, as my old man has that.....and it aint fun.

I enjoy playing with flavours. I look like some kinda (MODERATED), with my box of chemical shiz niz.

Cheers guys

vaping is a lot more better for you, even if inhaling pg and vg and all those flavors are bad, think about all the crap in real cigs, yeah ill take ecigs over that any day

my wife is very sick and somehow I am not, and this girl at my job (cant stand her! had to throw that in) is sick and always coughing and sneezing EVERYWHERE and NEVER covers her mouth!!!!! I asked her a few times nicely to cover her mouth and she refuses.... I complained to my manager and she said oh she cant help it...... ...??!! (now you know one reason why I cant stand her)

anyways, normally from going outside and smoking real cigs period, I would've been sick by now but NOPE... :)
still trucking

When I first started vaping for 2 weeks I sneezed like crazy, thought I was going to have to stop vaping because of it. You need to know I started smoking at age 7 , and by age 48 had become a 5 pack a day Newport smoker. Then I went to the doctor because I was worried about all the sneezing, he informed me that because I had started smoking at such a young age, I had fried all the little hairs in my sinuses. He said the sneezing was do to the fact that they were growing back... lol. He then informed me I might develop allergies, never had them, still don't thank god..lol. My doctor approves of me vaping rather than smoking because I have COPD. Now alot of people that vape are true to one flavor all day, me, I carry a case, with at least 6 different flavors in it. I use some throw away tanks ands some rebuildable coil tanks. For me the tank isn't really that important. I do however like a 2.5 coil versus a 1.8 coil. Much better flavor with a 2.5 coil. It burns hotter I think is why. Anyway welcome to vaping, and if you have any questions I can help with look me up

Yes, Joey Blue. :) Vaping can dry out your nose plus heat from your furnace......especially if it's gas heat. You need to keep yourself hydrated more. New vapers sometimes go thru a period of nose bleeds, I did, until you figure out the amount of liquid intake is needed. :p .......It's part of the learning curve.

It has been very cold here in Philadelphia and the heat is high in my apartment .. I am new to vaping, but I sometimes have blood in my tissue in the morning after blowing my nose. I wonder if the vaping is drying out the lining of my nose as well as the dry heat. --- Any one else had this problem??

As Granny said. Vaping REALLY dehydrates you, drink LOTS of water (more than you think you need!) and this will probably go away.
If it persists, perhaps switch to mouth exhales for a while...

Thank you. I wondered if it was unusual. I see I am not alone. -- I do have electric heat but I keep the thermostat at 77 -78 º F. which is quite warm. -- I need to drink more water...

Thanks, I don't actually exhale thru my nose that much; just periodically . But I could increase my water intake a lot. [ BTW, I still desire cigarettes occasionally.]

Oof! Joey Blue, that is a quite warm temp. Your sinuses and nose will thank you and you'll sleep better at night if your thermostat is turned down a bit. :) We had to learn that when we moved to this gas heated house from a house that used air to air heat pumps. Holy cow, would we get stuffy and clogged up and the wood on my furniture and kitchen cabinetry would shrink! 8-o Another learning curve I had to go thru!

Oh yes.

If you have any antique furniture, or a long case clock, or anything like that, then you'll know that central heating wrecks them. The wood dries out, shrinks, cracks, and breaks up. Modern urban rooms are incredibly dry compared to old houses with an open coal fire. In the last few decades we have started to live in a new environment, the previous 400,000 years saw us in a far damper environment than today.

The (partial) solution with an antique bureau is you put a dish of water underneath it and hope that will help keep the localised air less dry. The partial solution with people is you drink a lot more especially when vaping (the dish of water underneath has some practical issues...).

Maybe a better answer is a room / apartment / house humidifier. Vapers need to drink more, anyway.
