Last Year I started back to school at the local community college. Coincidentally, it was the schools first year to implement a "tobacco Free Zone". What this meant was basically the elimination of a couple of smoking areas and the erection of twenty giant TFZ signs (I think to pat them selves on the back). I haven't had a cigarette in two years so this really wasn't a big deal to me, aside from the feeling of a continued loss of freedoms. I would occasionally catch a quick vape here and there...always trying to be inconspicuous. I never had one problem (or even a curious glance) the whole year.
Well apparently the gig is up. Here is the schools new smoking policy by-law:
"The inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying of any lighted smoking material, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or electronic cigarettes is prohibited on college property. The use of other tobacco products, such as smokeless or chewing tobacco, is also prohibited on college property."
Ugh.
The paragraph reminded me of the old Sesame Street skit "One of these things is not like the others" ...I am afraid that the battle of non-vapors education is going to be a real slog when even a modern college campus can't tell an apple from an orange.
